I searched google and this forum before posting, found nothing.

I have a 2011 Mazda 3 Sport GX, and am wondering two things:

Can I replace the rear turn signal (red) with an amber one
If yes, how much would this cost?

The red filtering from what I can tell is done through a piece of red plastic. Can I replace this with clear (or amber) plastic to get the amber turn indicators that the Mazda 3 sedan has on my sport?

If you are asking why I want to do this, it is because I read a study that showed that amber turn indicators on the rear reduced collision frequency that had separate amber rear turn indicators was reduced by 22% compared to vehicles with either combined turn/brake or separate red turn/brake indicators (the study authors looked at models who one year had amber indicators, which were then replaced with red ones the next year, or vice versa), http://www.nhtsa.gov/DOT/NHTSA/NRD/Multimedia/PDFs/Crash%20Avoidance/2008/811%20037.pdf.
