Hey folks. I'm looking to keep the OEM projector housing, but swap out the lens for the projector itself.
Has anyone done this before? Need to know the correct sizing for the projector.
Thanks!

You'll want something like this,

but I don't know if it will fix Gen2. It was made for Gen1.
I did the halogen to xenon swap, but my suggestion is just go OEM xenon plus you get manual leveling :)

OEm housings plus the cost of the Bi-xenon equipment runs over 3 grand. I would prefer to go with a retrofit at that point....

Done it and it will give a noticeable different in light performance in terms of output and cut-off beam. Relatively cheap mod if you do the baking and resealing yourself.

I might be interested in doing this as well -- Does anyone know of a reputable place to find a clear lens that for sure fits the Gen2? I have looked around a bit (albeit casually) and searched the forum... but only founds lenses for Gen1.
Maybe the retrofit source will come out with one someday?

Just to give you a heads up, they do supply them.
This is the one they specified on using for the 2010+ HALOGEN housing's.

I'm curious how this will work affecting glare to other people though.

Since our headlights use a projector type housing, the light output is directed/projected towards the road.
Cars that don't use a projector type housing but just a reflector type housing (eg: older honda civics), the light is just reflected off the back off the housing and projected back at oncoming traffic hence glare.

Amazing! That's exactly what I meant. Thanks! Has anyone put these lenses in their gen2 3s with success? How much of an improvement are they?
And I'd still have to bake open the headlights, yes?

I think he just meant clear lens vs. stock lens... not projector vs. reflector...

Yes...your oven will become your best friend..

Yeah...afaik, people who have installed the clear lenses (including myself) have never had issues with glare.

How's that? Are you saying there is a way to clear lens mod gen2 headlights without baking them open? Cause that would be amazing... Everything I've seen has indicated I would have to bake them... which I'm not keen on. Do tell...

In order to remove the lens, you MUST bake/heatgun the headlight. I've contacted TRS about an issue i'm having. One of my ballasts are giving out inconsistent power (causing the bulb to flicker on start up for about 5 minutes) I'm going to see if they will allow me to send back the kit, and get a complete retrofit system. If im gonna pop these open, im gonna do it right.
