I bought my used 2010 Mazda3 GX from a dealership last week.
I don't do much night driving, so I didn't notice right away. I now know why the overhead light switches were in the "off" position!............
Front and rear overhead lights are switched to the "Door" position. ("Off/Door/On" switch)
The lights stay on, they won't shut off when the door is closed. There's a weird buzzing/clicking sound from the steering wheel when in that mode.
I swear I saw a very small puff of smoke from behind the horn for 2 seconds.
Turn the engine off with the switch in "Door" position and the fan runs for a couple more seconds than it should.
Door ajar light is off.
The dimmer knob is set to low.
While driving, sometimes the door locks repeatedly try to "lock" themselves.
Any ideas as to why the dome light won't shut off with the door, this awful sound from the steering wheel and why my locks keep "locking" while the dome light is lit?
Also a sulphur odour from the vents.
Thank you for your help.

Dome light stays on for awhile 1min i think when door closes.
That clicking sound when you shut your car off, I forgot what's it for but I get the same.....I believe this is normal.

I have a weird steering wheel click when I turn sometimes. Also when I unlock the car, sometimes the interior lights don't come on. If anything, just bring it back to the dealer and say wtf

Hi, thank you for your reply.
I rode around town for a few minutes and the light still didn't shut off.
The clicking sound behind the steering wheel only happens when the light is in "door" mode, when it's trying to engage. The fan always shuts off when I turn the car off, but with the light in "door" mode it takes a moment to stop.
Could anything be short circuiting behind the steering wheel that caused that itty bitty bit puff of smoke?
The door locks continuously try to lock themselves while the light is in "door" mode.
This stuff can't be normal? lol

Hmmm, no clicking when I turn.
Ooooh yeah, I've made a couple wtf phone calls and of course just got voicemail. I'm hoping someone calls me soon, it's kinda freaking me out, lol.

Hi guys, I was tinkering to find out what happens when and this is what I came up with. Hope this helps with any ideas as to what is going on.
With the overhead light switch turned to the "Door" position:
Steering wheel buzzes when you turn the ignition on, buzzes when opening and closing the door, buzzes when removing the key.
The fan doesn't shut off (even with key removed and the car is off) unless you turn the fan to "off" at the dial.
The "unlock" button on the remote starter no longer works. (Both regular and spare).
Smoke (?) odour coming from vents when parked.
A light tiny puff of smoke from the steering wheel.
Door locks were continuously tring to re-lock themselves when in "Door" position.
Short circuit or bad remote install?

Whatever it is, it's not good to have all those problems. Especially the smoke smell. Sulfur could be a bad catalytic converter. Take it personally to the dealer you bought it at and make sure they sort it out. Hopefully they can
Does your at have an aftermarket alarm system? Or anything aftermarket in the car?

It came with an aftermarket remote starter.
I did a Google search, it looks like this one...

Yes, the car came with a remote car starter. I Googled it and I believe it's an aftermarket "Autostart" brand.
I have an appointment made at the Dealership.

the installation on the remote starter could be the cause of all these, i thought to ask because i think another member had the same problem with a misinstalled alarm system/remote start

It was the aftermarket remote starter! The "brain" went crazy and caused all these problems. They uninstalled it and everything is ok now.
