Hey guys, heading to the states for a week next month.
Anyone know if I can purchase a carton of smokes at the canadian duty free on my way OUT of Canada?
Has anyone done this?
Thanks!

I think so. I recall seeing a sign for duty free on the way out when I went to New York last month. Maybe someone who goes across more often can tell you with more certainty though.

Yea, you can go to Duty Free on your way out. They'll ask if you plan on crossing the border immediately after (before selling to you) and take down your license plate.
Make sure you keep your receipt just in case :P

You can definitely purchase at the CDN duty free then cross into the US. However, if you plan on bringing that carton back across into Canada, you need to declare that (and if you are the only one travelling in the vehicle, that is your exemption). The next one can be levied duties if purchased at the american duty free.
