For the past month I've been noticing a noise from the front end when I'm pulling out of the parking spot (when I'm turning the wheel). I know it's not the brakes or tires rubbing. First I thought my power steering fluid was low but it's at normal level. What could it be?

btw the car is '05 (with 151K) and I've never done a power steering flush, is it something that's need to be done as part of the maintenance?

Anyone??

I did someone research and will do a power steering drain and fill and see if that helps. Maybe the fluid is too dirty and that's what causing it...Also noticed that my coolant is a little low, so will do that as well.

You missed the most important thing. What type of a sound?
Whining? Power steering... that's just how it is
Clicking? CV joint
Thump? Mispearched spring

My dads old Plymouth had a power steering problems this sounds a lot like it. Definitely not clicking or thumping. I guess you can call it whining; 'kkgghhhh' it I had to sound it out.

I know it can be hard to capture, but maybe try taking a recording of the sound that you can post on here? Would give people a better idea of what you're talking about, and would make it easier to diagnose.

I've tried recording the sound but can't really capture it... But lately a few times I've heard a squeal sound almost like whistling when I'm turning (again this is on a cold start or after the car has been sitting for a while).

I know this is an old post but thought I'd answer it :). Power steering fluid needs a flush. Its happened to mine and its fixed. Squeek is gone.
