Need Help with Winter Tires selection

Its time to replace my set of winter tires. I have a 2006 Mazda 3 i2.0.
I am looking at either Pirelli Ice Control or the Michelin X Ice. Also should I stay with
the 195 size or go to 205. One final question, how long should the steel rims last or do they need to be replaced ?
I have one set for last 5 years. Thanks.

Stay with the 195/65R15. Keeps things cheaper.

Narrower is better when it coomes to driving in snow. As pointed out above its also cheaper.

The rims should still be good unless you've dented or warped them.
