Definitely for off road use only (unless you are an emergency vehicle)
I only remember the EuroLite strobes. the only issue was trying to get a secure, water-tight place to install them.

Ya good luck with that. Unless you want a ticket for impersonating an officer I wouldn't bother with those strobes

I agree with Thrizzl3... you're just going to attract negative attention from the cops. They would love to pull you over for that and slap a bunch of charges on you lol.

I see tickets, legal fee's, and officers batons in your future.
Seen couple of guys at Ertefa have them ? Not sure if they got in trouble or not. I'm reconsidering the red/blue strobes maybe white.

As long as you only use them in Private parking lots or at car shows - there's nothing wrong with having them installed, and wired to a switch.

I wasn't sure why everyone was still blasting on the legalities after this was said; until I saw that video. Red and blue is probably fine IF while its off it looks like its just a normal white light (clear lens). If the lens of the lights are actually tinted red and blue then you aren't much better off then if you were driving with them on. You would get stopped pretty quickly.
I'm pretty sure you can still get red and blue strobes that appear like white LEDs when off. The question then is if you think you will get your money's worth doing something you can't drive around with on. My personal opinion, unless your going to lots of meets and or shows you will probably at some point regret it in the end. Unless your showing people it, its not really worth it.

Section of the CC of Canada - STATES SPECIFICALLY!!!
Impersonation of a Peace Officer
130. (1) Everyone commits an offence who
(a) falsely represents himself to be a peace officer or a public officer; or
(b) not being a peace officer or public officer, uses a badge or article of uniform or equipment in a manner that is likely to cause persons to believe that he is a peace officer or a public officer, as the case may be.
That term "persons to believe" means, ANYONE, If I saw a vehcile coming myway and it had red/blue strobes it would raise serious concerns.
Be safe, have fun. goodluck

again - the use of strobe lights on a regular car - on ANY public road - despite what color they are - is illegal
They are for off road use only. Private parking lots and car shows.

I could see strobes being "fun" inside the car. But that's a whole other conversation.
I could only see you not being hassled ( or let go) if there was a safety switch. Like can only be turned on when the emergency brake is on. Otherwise not worth the unwanted attention on a daily driver. Even if only used when parked. (draws attention to your vehicle to make cops want to pull you over)

Unnecessary bashing is unnecessary.
Kits are available use at your own risk.

Red and blue lights in the front are not permitted unless you are an emergency vehicle (police) or have permission from the ministry - regardless of if they are turned on only on private property or not.

Red light in front
(15) In addition to the lighting requirements in this Part, a vehicle described in subsection (15.1) may carry lamps that cast a red light only or such other colour of light that may, with the approval of the ministry, be designated by a by-law of the municipality in which the vehicle is operated, but no other motor vehicle shall carry any lamp that casts a red light to the front. 1998, c. 35, s. 103.

HTA does not apply on private property.

HTA does not apply on private property.
Not necessarily true, many HTA charges have been laid on private property. Mostly accident related but nonetheless
edit: and also just to add "Some large shopping centres have made arrangements with their local governments so that the municipality classifies the shopping centre's main roads as a highway, in order for them to be covered by the HTA, and speed limits and road signs can be enforced, says Ontario's Ministry of Transportation."

HTA does not apply on private property.
True but there are exceptions (which I was unaware of.......I wonder which shopping centres have made these arrangements with local police?)

HTA does not apply on private property.
In addtion, unless the car was brought to the private property on a trailer or magically dropped there one would assume someone is travelling via public roads to get to the private property and then in a position where they are in breach of the HTA unless they had the strobes unistalled prior to getting onto the public roadway and then reinstalled when on private property.

it would then be considered dangerous operation of a vehicle (criminal code)
nothing to do with HTA or strobe lights

They could ticket still but you would have to get the one jerk cop to enforce that though.

you can have them installed - you just cannot use them on the roads.

It sounds like you can have them installed but not used at first but..
(14) Subject to subsections (14.1) and (15), no person shall use a lamp, other than the vehicular hazard warning signal lamps commonly known as four way flashers, that produces intermittent flashes of red light.
Red and blue lights to the front restricted
(14.1) In addition to the lighting requirements in this Part, a police department vehicle may carry lamps that cast red and blue lights, but no other motor vehicle shall carry any lamp that casts red and blue lights to the front.
To me that sounds like install.
Still your risks of being pulled over for it if you don't use it on roads are reduced by like 99%. You might run into trouble if they are checking your car for something else though.

Incorrect......as pointed out by this portion of the act:
c(14.1) In addition to the lighting requirements in this Part, a police department vehicle may carry lamps that cast red and blue lights, but no other motor vehicle shall carry any lamp that casts red and blue lights to the front.
Carry being the operative word vs operate
