View Full Version : Wedding band - what are you rocking?
Hi all, I'm getting married in April and am looking at wedding bands.
Right now i'm fairly sure I'm going with a "hammered" titanium ring - Just wondering what the other married TM3'ers are wearing.
post it up!
(I'm fairly sure I'm about to order this badboy)

Simple 14k white gold comfort band for me
went with 14k since its more durable than 18k and higher etc.
didn't go with something like tungsten just in case something happened at work they're a bitch to cut off.
Our rings were also hand made by a family friend
the ring in that pic looks really nice but I would destroy it

That's not a problem since I never wear mine
Mine's a family heirloom from my grandfather, white gold and gold, but otherwise a fairly basic band.

get a plain band...if you ever loose it, easy and cheap to replace and the wife won't know
(unless you do something stupid like have it engraved on the inside in some font that no one can replicate....in that case buy TWO and keep one as a spare)

LOL +1
Truer words have never been spoken. Never get it engraved. Something simple and durable. I basically have what Loki has. I can only add that wide and thick bands aren't practical, a narrow thin one is safe. You'd be surprised how many scratches it gets.
I'm looking at bands right now too, same with Mat. He doesnt know what he wants but he never wears jewerly so I know he's going to have a hard time adjusting to anything.
Me? I'm getting a blingin' 1 carat band lol
Pictures!
Right now, I'm actually thinking of sourcing from Etsy.

I also like his "wood grain" one, but I feel like it might be rough/irritating.

I went to a jewllers and they TRIED to scare me off of titanium (and toward the much more expensive platinum/gold bands) .
I shut him up pretty good. He said that Titanium was impossible to cut off in an accident as it was the hardest Metal known to man.
I actually asked him if he wanted to take that statement back. he looked SOOOO confused. I explained that Titanium is actually similar in strength to steel, However, it is misconception that it is "harder" because its significantly lighter than most metals, but has the same strength.
But yes, I have not worn a ring for a day in my life. Or any jewelry. I think I had a timex watch when I was 6 years old. It lasted a year, tops. that was the last watch I owned.
Looking for something I can put on, never take off, and never notice. I like the "Hammered" finish because if I do manage to scratch it - It wont be obvious. Also, My grandparents on my dads side are/were both allergic to anything but Gold, and I read that titanium doesn't react with anyone - so I guess thats a plus.
The wider the band the more uncomfortable
if you're not used to rings and don't want it to be noticeable then go with something slimmish

When we went ring shopping last year, I went with the wife and I picked out 3, then I let her pick out of that so it was a surprise the day of.
This is what I rock . It does irritate my hand the odd time but I think its just my skin reacting.

word. 5mm-7mm wide and comfort fit inside and out, you will NEVER know it's there.
styles that are comfort fit on the inside are fine, but with the outside is boxy you'll feel it when your fingers are together

I'm getting married in less than 2 weeks and just got my Tungsten wedding band from Birks on the weekend. As others have said, and contrary to popular belief, Tungsten and Cobalt rings are probably safer than comparable gold/steel/titanium rings because they're extremely brittle and will either straight up shatter during an accident, or with little effort after the fact. Highly malleable alloys like Steel or Titanium will plastically deform and stay crushed, needing to be cut off (quite painful I'm told) your finger. That being said, shards of tungsten or cobalt getting rammed into your finger wouldnt be too pleasant either. I'm just going to try and avoid having my fingers crushed altogether :p

same here - kept it simple in case i lost it and needed to get a quick copy done before the wife found out LOL
Also - did the wedding date engraving on the inside - it's saved my ass a few times already

I picked mine out at Spence, decided I liked something with a bit of a design on it. 14K gold I believe.

I'm used to wearing a ring so I wear it daily; it's rare I make it to the elevator in the morning without noticing if it isn't on. However I don't wear it around the house or for any manual labour. Still in great condition after 4 years.

^ I've never worn a ring previously either. Which meant I didn't know I had abnormally large webbing between my fingers until it was time to wear one lol

I have the same thing. Black tungsten carbide. I don't really wear it because of the cars in the lab, but i keep it on my keychain
i bought my rings on amazon. They were under $50, so if they break or i lose them (i've lost two already) then it's no biggy

Don't do it man.....
.... If you cherish your car and modding it
.... If you enjoy going out at any time of the day just to shoot the shiz to talk about shiz
.... If you feel like leaving the seat up - just cause you know you're going to use it again later
.... If you like going to the theatre to watch any Marvel or DC movie, or horror flick, or stupid comedy flick, or any movie that doesn't involve a guy that has a female friend and realizes that all along he was in love with her....
.... If you hate going to bed bath and beyond, or the body shop every weekend
.... Then married life ain't for you
LOL
Just kidding of course.
Best of luck buddy
