I have a 2012 mazda 3 and have a HID kit in the highbeams witch are the day time running lights but they do not come on when in daytime running light mode is this due to lack of voltage to trigger them on ? and how would i fix this would installing a relay to the kit help?

Thanks

Don't run HIDs in your highbeams. There's no need.

As above. It's not worth hacking together an electrical system to get the DRL system running at full voltage to use HIDs in there (I assume you want to do this so you have HIDs as your DRLs?). You don't need HIDs for your high beams as a) it is a reflector housing not meant for that type of bulb and b) the nature of high beams (being flicked on and off) is not good for HIDs.

Also, HID's take awhile to heat up and produce the full light output and they don't like constant on and off's, so they are pretty pointless to go in your Hi-Beams unless you are just trying to piss people off.

Your kit is probably trying to turn on - flickering & buzzing. It will soon die due to lack of voltage. The HIDS can run at full blast if you put a capacitor in there, but that is equivalent to driving around all day with your highbeams on all the time.

There's no need for this, on coming traffic will be blinded and possible cop trouble...

Why exactly are you even running HIDs as hb? The whole point is to be able to use them instantly when the situation arises, which HIDs are not capable since as stated by another member they take time to heat up. Even on an almost pitch black road HID lows are more than adequate.
