Hey all…

Over the summer I upgraded my head unit to an AppRadio2 - love the unit, but ever since I've been having intermittent am radio reception issues. It seems to be fine sometimes… but then other times I get all kinds of noise and interference happening. FM is always crystal clear, but I really like my morning news radio on the way to work lol. Lately it has been getting worse and worse… and I've narrowed the problem to determine that it is caused by electrical systems in my car. It's been getting worse because it's getting darker, and my headlights are on more (duh…). Searching has revealed a semi-common problem with reception interference from aftermarket HIDs (which I have) but my problem also happens when the wipers are on, not just the lights, and never happened with the stock stereo.

I'm wondering if there is a way to somehow shield the head unit/wiring to help it? Or add a noise reduction filter of some kind?

Anyone have any thoughts/experience with this?

Just a shot in the dark without knowing more but sometimes the type of tint you have will affect your AM reception ( I don't know if you have tint in your car or not) if you do though , unless its a ceramic or all dyed tint you can have interference with a metalized or hybrid tint.
Many customers don't complain as AM isnt a popular choice these days . There is a fix for this if this is the case , I'll wait for a response first to see if that's the case or if its irrelevant in your case lol

Thanks MazdaProTinter

I do have tints… but they are ceramic so shouldn't be an issue. I would also think if it was the tints then it would happen all the time, not just when the lights are on or the wipers are going…

I have no clue how to install or what exactly it is but ive heard a ground loop interrupter works.

Third party advice so take it with a grain of salt.
