My friend bought a car with this deck installed (a Mazda3 of course). He loves the deck to death except for the fact that we cannot seem to get the iPod interface or AUX input to work. The USB and AUX input cables are in the glovebox (female USB and female 3.5mm jack). When we plug in an Apple iPod cable it won't charge/won't recognize the device. I tried my USB key which I use for music on my (Kenwood) deck and it also is not seen by the stereo. A 3.5mm male to male cable also don't produce any audio. We tried the 3.5mm and iPod cable together and still nothing...There 4 options (Mirror AV, iPod, AV1 and AV2). From the stereo settings menu we have AV1 as iPod and AV2 as "Input" (i think?). We cannot seem to activate the iPod/AV1/AV2 modes. We have 1 button on the screen that changes from Mirror AV to iPod to AV1 to AV2. Pushing this button doesn't change the audio at all and the radio or BT audio just continues to play.
Anyone know what's going on? I suspect either A) the iPod/AUX cable on the back of the deck is disconnected (although, why would they put the input cables in the GB if they didn't connect them to the deck?) or B) We actually have to buy the Pioneer iPod interface cable (a Y-cable with USB + 3.5mm male connections which terminates in an iPod dock connector.
This is bugging us to no end. He wants to be able to listen to his iPod or at least MP3s on a USB key!
