Curious what other people are checking the forums on. I'm a nerd (electronics engineering degree) and a bit of a gamer so I thought it would be cool to see what others have done.
I'm in the process of updating my rig (on going project).
Old setup specs (initial build):
Intel i5 2500k 4.5 GHz MHz
Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD4-B3
ASUS GTX 560TI
8Gb CORSAIR Vengeance
90Gb Corsair Force 3 SSD (Not shown in pic)
2TB Hitachi Deskstar 7.2K
Corsair TX650M
Corsair H100 Liquid Cooling
Corsair Carbide 500r (White)
ASUS VH242H Monitor
Edifier S330D Speakers
Razer Blackwidow
Razer Naga
Completed:
My H100 died, Corsair warrantied it and replaced it with an H100i
Replaced all case fans with Corsair SP120 HPE PWM (Total of 5, 3 intake, 2 exhaust)
Sleeved cable extensions
Relocated HDD cage in 5.25" Bay to free up intake air.
Skullcandy SLYR headset (nice headset for the price)
Razer Deathadder 4g (much better for FPS)
Recently Installed:
i7 3770k @4.5 GHz
ASUS Maximus V Formula
ASUS ROG Matrix Platinum 7970
Corsair Vengeance Pro 16Gb 2133Mhz
Custom side window
Next:
Bigger SSD
New Case with better support for Liquid Cooling
Delid my 3770k (not the best batch, 4.5 @ 1.33, so it runs warm)
Full custom loop liquid cooling
Bigger, full modular PSU, fully sleeved.
Turn an old PC into a NAS
Add a second 7970 Matrix (farther down the road)
Will post pics later.

Summer '08 build, still use it for LoL, SC2. Minor upgrades ofc:

Asus P5Q Turbo
4 x 1GB Crucial Ballistix Tracer
256GB OCZ Vertex 4
MSI 560Ti OC
Corsair HX620W Modular PSU

AMD Athlon 64 x2 4400+
OCZ DDR 800 Value RAM

Macbook Pro with Retina Display
2.6 Ghz Intel Core i7 (3720QM, Intel HD 4000)
16GB 1600 Mhz DDR3
256GB SSD
Nvidia GT 650M <- OCed by Apple, so performance on par with GTX 660M

Computers are a bit of an addictive hobby, I think I am going to be changing things around again even though I just finished building this in October. I think I am going to go mATX this time.

Built the system almost 2 years ago for video editing and to be somewhat future proof. I'm not a gamer. My main concern was that it has to be super quiet. My previous computer was about 7-8 years old and the only reason I upgraded was because I couldn't edit HD videos.
Intel I7-2600K 3.4Ghz
16GB RAM Corsair Vengeance Blue
Seasonic x850 PSU
256GB Crucial SS Hard Drive + 2TB and 1 TB (can't remember if it's Seagate or Western Digital)
Antec P-280 case (which is gorgeous)
MSI GEForce GTX580 448 OC Twin Frozer III
USB 3.0 (huge difference)
An old 24" IPS monitor.
I was shopping around last year for dual IPS monitors but got side track. Was also looking to get a Synology NAS system set up. Perhaps if I see any good sales on Cyber Monday or Boxing day I'll strike. Not in a real rush and not on the top of my list.

Built this last year at black friday. I already had the hard drives and the video card. Everything else cost me about $450 total. Only thing i'd do from here is change the video card and add more Ram if it goes back on sale.
AMD Bulldozer FX 8120 (8 core 3.1GHz)
Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3 Mobo
16GB Patriot Viper 3 Black Mamba 1866MHz (i have room for another 16GB, I lucked out and two 8GB sticks were $55 after rebate from canada computers)
Three 2TB WD Caviar green harddrives (almost full of tv and movies, i'm going to need more HD's soon)
Enermax CLIPEUS ECA3212-BL Mid ATX case
nVidia GeForce 9500 GT (this is old and needs replacing, i got it because it was the cheapest way to get dual DVI at the time.
Corsair CX500M 80 Bronze plus PSU
I was looking through the prices now on CC and every component is more than double what I paid originally

Well just ordered a new Case, Motherboard, and SSD. Just need to do some work to find a good 4670k, and a GTX 780. Will post up pictures once I finish the build.
Side note anyone looking to buy a 3770k, 7970 Matrix Platinum, or a Corsair 500r with a TX650M in it?

my most recent build from this summer:
ASUS M5A99X EVO R2
AMD FX-8350 4GHZ 8-core (small OC to 4.2GHz)
8GB DDR3-1600 G.Skill Ripjaws
120GB Samsung 840 SSD + 500GB Seagate HDD
Zotac Radeon HD7870 1Ghz 2GB
700W Modular 80Plus PSU
Cooler Master HAF920 case
its all air-cooled but I have a pretty good cooler on the CPU and got a bunch of case fans to add to the noise lol. it plays everything i've thrown at it so far at max settings so i'm happy (i'll have to see how it handles BF 4 and COD Ghosts when I eventually get them)
