hey guys,

So i just got a kenwood dnx690hd installed in my car and im having issues with my iPod classic playing in my car. So my iPod connects and everything shows on the screen like all the track etc but for some reason i can't hear any music playing even though the music is playing. I tried everything possible to figure out why i can't hear anything buy playing with the volume, unplugging the iPod and restarting the unit and still i can't hear anything. I know my speakers work because radio and everything else works!

Also i'm going to try and update the firmware to see if that helps
Can someone help???

try a new ipod cord, or just return it where you bought it and get a new one

This sounds like a problem I've had. The iPod cable provided is too short on the back of the deck. It seems like the 3.5mm portion of the cord isn't connected. The USB is connected because it's reading the iPod track info, but the audio isn't coming through. You also might have the wrong cable, if it wasn't provided with the deck.

After a little more research online, and seeing the rear panel, it looks like a ip-202 cable is needed, it has a USB connector and a 3.5mm connector, that has to be connected for the sound to play. When the deck was set up, is the AV-in set to iPod in the menu?

yea the deck only came with a standard usb cable (not the ip-202). So correct me if im wrong, i have to buy this ip-202 cable for it to work and it just plugs directly in the usb cable that was provided?

The cable is supposed to plug into the USB port, and the 3.5mm plug on the back of the deck. It should be connected to the port called iPod/AV2

This also shows video though it as well. I would check with where you bought it from, just to confirm, but I had to buy the other cable to play sound and video from my iPod. Then in the menu it shows AV-Input page 50 of this PDF shows you how to change it. http://manual.kenwood.com/files/51ccdeb851d28.pdf

One other thing to check, is try putting a USB key with some music on it to make sure that works separately from the iPod cable.

I just installed the ddx 370 last night and had the same issue with my 4th generation ipoad what I had to do was reboot the head unit. How I did that was unplug the harness and plugged back in and change the av2 option that is on ipod it has to be changed to the other option. Then my ipod worked with playing music

Does yours support video then without the cable? just a single USB cable? or do you have a 3.5mm jack as well as a USB?
