Hey guys,
So I was on my way to work this morning, and I was trying to accelerate, and it noticed there was some resistance. I thought I had a flat as I just changed to winter mode. I pulled over to the side, and didn't see anything noticeably wrong. Opened the hood, and everything seemed to be okay. I was down the street from work, so I thought I would just drive it, and inspect it there. For the 1 minute drive, I started smelling something burning. I finally got to work and inspected the car more thoroughly. My Rear Driver brakes were smoking. I'm guessing the caliper was sticking and the pads were in constant contact with the rotor as I was driving. It looked too hot to inspect, and I was late for work, so I let it cool down and checked it again on my lunch. I did some reading and saw that there could have been something lodged in the brakes, but that is unlikely. To test that I started her up and pumped the brakes to see if anything would squeeze out. I then took the car for a quick test drive, accelerating and braking very fast, to see if the brakes were still intact. There was no more smell, no more resistance driving and accelerating, and the car seems to be operating normally now. I was thinking of taking it to Jimmy on my lunch to check it out. But after my little test, it seems to be back to normal. Should I be worried?

Not worried per say but have them seen to asap.
I had to drive 80km with a stuck caliper to get home. Had to replace my rear pads. It didnt bother me as I knew i needed to replace them anyways

The same thing happened to me a few days ago. Got out of the car, all I could smell was burned brakes. Drivers side rear as well. E-brake not on, was not driving hard. It's going in tomorrow for a look at the dealership.

ebrakes sometimes have a habit of holding on a bit in the cold if its not lubed properly

Thanks,
I don't mind smoking the brakes on my work vehicle, but not on MY vehicle.
Still have the full warranty, so I'm going to get them to fix that, the loose noisy spoiler and the cold weather rattling that is coming from the back some place.

Okay, I'll try and give Jimmy a call tomorrow to see if I can make an appointment. Everything was fine during the day. But on my way home, I smelt the burning smell again, although there's no resistance. I'm sure something is dragging

Have you or JPJPJP done your annaul brake services? Seems strange for such new cars to have sticking or seized calipers already. Figjam when does the noise happen? Sadly.. sometimes or most times there is no fix for cold noise.. noises.

Had my brakes serviced in the summer and all was well. Nothing seems off with the brakes right know, but there was no mistaking the drivers side rear was the culprit.
The noise is always in the cold when the car has been sitting for a long while, like overnight. It usually goes away when the car heats up. The colder it is outside the louder and more prolonged the creaking. I'm pretty sure its somewhere in the rear hatch. When I open it up, I can hear a bolt or something rolling inside the lift gate. And when I shut the hatch, the spoiler makes quite a racket. I read on how to fix it myself, but it's still under warranty. So I'm going to have the dealer troubleshoot the issues.

When it rains/snows, there is more build up of rust on the rotors. When you first try and drive the car, that build up will cause it to creek, clang, bang, etc. It used to be a huge pain in the ass for me until I purchased a set of cross-drilled, slotted, zinc coated rotors.. since then I haven't had any issues.

Booter22 I haven't had my brakes serviced since I got the car last September, as new pads and rotors were put on the car before I got them. I smell a slight burning smell. I'm going to try and get my brakes serviced this weekend.

Trip to dealership aborted for me.
One of my two dogs decided to have an "interaction" with a porcupine.
200-300 quills later and $900 lighter in my wallet. Spent the afternoon early evening at the vet emergency clinic.
