View Full Version : Disappointed with Ajax Mazda

Hi all,

Just wanted to share my experience at Ajax Mazda. Things started to seem wrong when I did a scheduled service at Ajax Mazda that included some brake maintenance. When the service was completed, I was charged roughly $40 more than what I was quoted over the phone (I always get price quotes for any service that costs more than the standard 8,000 KM one). At that time I disputed the costs and they willingly changed the bill to be what I was quoted. I was quite happy about that. But I still felt like they tried the bait-and-switch on me.

Some time later, I was automatically emailed by their system for my next service. I'm not sure which one it was, but it was roughly $300. The odd thing was that it included a coolant replacement/flush. I thought this was pretty shady because all 3's >=2008 use FL22 type engine coolant, which does not need to be replaced until "190,000 km or 10 years" (as per the manual). Anyway, I thought this was pretty shady, so I just stopped going there. I felt like they would screw me if they could.

Thanks for reading.

I pretty sure our cars is 100,000km for coolant change.. Their is a thread about it but I mixed it up to and thought the samething as you 200,000km

All I did was drain the old coolant and put new coolant in... I didn't do a flush

I don't think so. The manual is quite clear about FL22 coolant.

That manual says first change at 96k or 4 years. After that every 2 years. Seeing as were not in Puerto Rico.

I think you're reading it wrong. That's for "others" or other types of engine coolants. Got this one from the net but ours recommends the same.

Here is ours (not Puerto Rico lol)
190,000km or 10 years as OP mentioned.

Yup. Thanks for posting this. Also, I would assume that the dealership would definitely have been aware of it.

If you look under remarks you do it at 192,000km or 10 years if your car has FL22 coolant.... If your car has that coolant it will be posted on radiator cap... If it don't say it then you follow other which is 96,000km or 5 years.

themanual says to use FL22 after.... My 08 did have FL22 .... Now it does cause the manual says to put that coolant in

It does not say on the cap what coolant the car has. It says with a tiny sticker to the right of the cap it says FL-22. Mazda 5 Rad caps say FL22 on them though.

I don't understand what you're trying to say.

Read your manual... I pretty much copied what they said

not all 08 have that coolant (FL22)

the he manual says if your rad cap says FL22 then you have that coolant and you change your coolant at 192,000km... If it does not say it then you follow other which 96,000km.

either way it don't matter to me what you do... Only thing I'm saying is the dealer wasn't trying to scam you with this service.

Check whether you have FL22 or not. Then we'll know for sure if a scam was goin' down.

My '09 came with FL22. I would be surprised if for some reason some number of '09 cars did not have FL22. Even if that were the case, they should check before telling me I need to replace it.

Given that they are a dealership, they clearly already know that '09 cars use FL22. Bottom line: they have shady business practices and I will never go there again.

My car is a 08 and mine has FL22 coolant now cause I replaced the coolant my self a while ago... I went passed the 96,000 km cause I thought it was 192,000 until the man corrected me in another thread.

FYI my 08 and my sister in laws 08 does not have FL22 on the radiator cap so that means we follow other in the manual which 96,000km.

the OP car is a 09 and his could have FL22 coolant in I don't know because I have 08

Yes I agree they should know...

I was only saying that they weren't trying to rip you off cause I thought you had a 08 cause you mentioned 08 in your first post.

I just realized that Ajax Mazda did not mark my winters when they took them off last spring :bang. Such a bunch of amateurs. I had to do some guesswork this year when putting them back on (myself).

well if they were directional.. and one tread higher then another. was it that hard to figure out? :facepalm

but yes i agree the markings do tend to make it easier.

Maybe. But I'd rather take the guesswork out of it.
