this is why im not going to any of them anymore. the meaning is completely gone and its not longer a "memorial". itll just end up bad and become a "whos got the bigger balls" type of deal again. worse case senario there will be a big fight if the meets come into contact with each other or end up as a pile up when someone wants attention by giving the "ultimate" memorial burnout/jump/flip/NOS firework. doesnt matter if the organizers tell you not to do those things, doesnt matter if police is there. people will find a way and perform stunts in memory of PW regardless.

i made my donation to a cause in memory of the tragic event. i dont need to associate myself with what the cruises has become to show support. i expect crazy shit at car meets, not a memorial cruise.

this paragraph here I thought particularly interesting -
"That common tuner spirit has lost its way as the “Wal-Mart of meets” has done it’s very best to muscle in wherever it can. To add insult to the situation they are pushing their own name and its “sponsors” within its advertisement for the cruise, a true act of classlessness."

I agree totally with this one boys and girls, look at those sponsors at the bottom. Clearly they are there for promotion and they call themselves "honoring Paul Walker's death".. I call bullsh*t , and it's a shame that some of them are our sponsors at TM3.

I tired to post this earlier but it says it needs admin's approval...

This pictures says it better than any bs we see every single day. it's like "Look! We are doing a charity event in memory of Paul Walker... and here is my company logo so if you need any parts, come to us!" These are the companies that jumps at every opportunity to get their names out and wouldn't give a ratsass on who actually died. They even spam their own fb page (not going to say name" on PW's death, making PW meme's, and so on that's just disgusting.

Let's not go bashing the sponsors. I suspect that these are sponsors of Ertefa overall, not necessarily this event. As as sponsor, they get attached to every event the organization creates.
Would be better if Ertefa advertised the event alone and no sponsors, but that is their decision.

If anything the sponsors better publicly donate a crap ton. Like Mazda did for h4h

just because they support the event doesnt mean they should plaster there names and brands all over a memorial event. im sure a lot of people and groups have supported the event and didnt want there logo put on for publicity. least the mentioned people on the card could do is make the memorial the actual title instead of putting it under there name and slogan. the sponsors should be hosts or presenters instead of sponsors. and im pretty sure that image was also stolen as there is no credit to the photographer or company who owns it, so now its used to promote an event (even if its for a good cause for charity). im not personally bashing anyone on that card, i just think it should of been handled better

i personally would not want my funeral to turn into a billboard for people to sell out there brand/service/products based on who has the most cash in there pockets. if you want to donate then do it for the cause, not the promotion of a brand

Im a horrible person for laughing at those last 2 posts....

Also I was going to go to this but after seeing the poor attitude from some folks online complaining about media attention and what not, I dont want to be anywhere near the impending mess. Also wasnt automotofoto a sponsor( or still is) for ertefa? Yet they are bashing Ertefa for posting sponsors in the ad?

Man I bet I could make a more effective ( and more respectful) poster... and then post it to the ertefa wall saying " this is how you guys should have done it!"

Should be an interesting night.. 1,000+ car enthusiasts/street racers out on the road at the same time.. shits going to go down.

I think it's a given that some morons are going to try and race.. with all the cars out, it's inevitable..

I saw this video of a guy who had some fancy car and he said every kid with a Honda tries to race him lol.. (found that kinda funny)

^Agreed, I've been saying that too. When you have a giant meet for whatever reason theres a lot of people (audience), so some people act like asshats to impress the audience and managing or organizing a 500+ car cruise. Are you joking me? Some people can't act civilized when their stationary, on a roads it'll be distruction. The more the split up the meets the better, there really no need to "get together". #Rememberthebuster #PaulWalker #DudeiAlmostHadU

While I largely agree with what's been said here and the AMF article as a whole it should be remembered that AMF and Ertefa were fairly tight and one point and had a falling out. So take that into consideration when reading any (not just this) post about Ertefa (Walmart meets). However what he said did need to be said.

The Ertefa flyer is particularly troubling because in addition to the logos they are calling it the "official" "charity" event when they also say this in their facebook group:
We will not be taking the responsibility of taking any cash donations because we feel that there are many people who are trying to benefit from this tragic loss which is absolutely disgusting.

So that's not really charity (http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/charity) is it?

As for the logos and the like. Someone asked me if I wanted a Stance Is Everything logo on one of the meet flyers and I politely declined.

Personally I will not be going to any of these events, I feel the whole thing has become quite strange. Look at me like a dick if you see fit but I feel like it's almost become trendy to display your public mourning to his death. This is not to say that it isn't an unfortunate tragedy in anyway shape or form.

^+1 I've personally eye witnessed asshats doing stunts on streets with full size sponsor logos on them. This one I saw back in the summer, a white Quebec plated STi modded to the tits, doing launches on Woodbine and Steeles (guess which sponsor.. hmm) at the same time scaring the crap out of a mini van right next to it, thinking some cars was gonna explode or something.

This makes me want to throw up. Wtf thats the first time I'm hearing of this. GUARANTEED They are going to be selling official derptefa lanyards, stickers, and dildo's during the cruise and the meet up in vaughn.

Personally, I will not be attending any of these memorial meets and I think the some of the people selling the "#rememberthebuster" stickers are just trying to make a quick buck.
Not saying that all shops selling these stickers are. But I think if it's really for charity, the stickers should be free or just $1 to cover material costs and you can donate any amount to the charity yourself.

Call me cynical, but who knows if all the proceeds really go to ROWW.

The Walker family posted the following statement on his official Facebook page:

"Paul Walker's family appreciates the outpouring of love and goodwill from his many fans and friends. They have asked, in lieu of flowers or other gifts, that donations please be made to Paul's charity Reach Out Worldwide (ROWW). Donations can easily be made through their website at http://www.ROWW.org/.

"It's comforting for them to know that the son, brother, and father they love so much is equally adored, respected, and appreciated by so many. Paul founded the organization with the genuine desire to help others, and it's important to his family to keep his memory alive through ROWW."

According to 2011 tax information from the organization, 35% of the funds raised went to the charity's programs. The rest of the funds are used for administrative and fundraising costs.

35% is too low.. this is what I hate about charities.. if you actually look into the people who run the charities, they are giving themselves 6 figure salaries.. all the donations they receive basically goes into their pockets while a little bit goes to the actual causes.. it's sickening..

:agree

Say the F&F community donates $1,000,000 to Paul Walkers charity.. only $350,000 of that actually goes to the charity..

They say the other $650,000 goes to administrative costs and advertising.. has anyone seen any advertising for ROWW before Walker's death?

I haven't.. so assuming they don't advertise much, that's $650,000 going into someones pockets as a paycheque.

Ugh. I was afraid that. Although if the funds raised in this year are double, triple what they raised previously it's not certain that the percentage wouldn't change (hopefully admin costs wouldn't be raised be the same amount).

don't get too bent out of shape at that chart. Do some research and you'll realize its mostly BS
UNICEF, Red Cross, United Way all have 85%+ program percentages,
Military-based assoc, generally have 0 salary, but incredible "compensation" packages.
