they also train for altitude, there was an interview with Jermain Defoe when he joined TFC before a game in Colorado and he was talking about how he has played in many altitudes and trained for it so that doesn't bother him. :-P you're going to need more than altitude and climates to save you from teams like Germany :-P

That is true, but climate is one thing...altitude...is a whole other ball game...football game.

+1 and I don't think one can 'condition' oneself 'beforehand' for at altitude playing. You must play for a time 'at altitude' to get conditioned. The Brazilians' have the edge here for sure. But I think the other statement here bares some weight also...They don't want carnage in the streets of Brazil that's for sure.

From what I saw the other player went for the ball, caught his foot while he was starting the kick, which made him trip himself and fall. So it was due to the other players action he went down, in the penalty area.

Muntari was missing this match regardless due to accumulation of yellows, and boateng had an issue with the coach. In order for portugal to finish 2nd outright, there needs to have 6 goals scored between them and germany combined and none conceded. If Germany wins 3-0 and portugal 2-0, then it will literally come down to a coin flip between usa and portugual for 2nd place as all other tie breakers will be tied.

It'll take a miracle for Portugal to get thru. The goal differential is huge. U.S would have to be shut out and the Porkchops would have to win by atleast 3 goals...But you never know....there's even Ghosts in this World cup. :)

It's not surprising at all that Brazil lost to Germany considering they had their captain and best defensive player out as well as their best offensive threat out, with no Neymar Jr the Germans didn't have to worry about any one player as a more substancial threat than the next and they just spread out their D and cut off the lanes and played a very good defensive game. This is lost as everyone looks at the offensive output (and I certainly didn't see Brazil giving up that many goals as a possibility) but once it was 3 zip you could see the Brazilians were lost defensively - hell even after the 1st goal with no Silva back there to calm eveyone down and take control they started to scramble defensively.

Too bad, I had hoped to see my 2 favourite teams in the finals - Brazil vs Argentina would have been an amazing final......I'll have to settle with the fact that I'm happy that Argentina is in the final, and that diving SOB whiner Robbyn and his bf Schnider are not. Robbyn is just an embarrassment to the game, he is everything that people who don't know the sport claim Soccer is about and he reinforces the stereotype that all soccer players are actors and divers.

Now I just need Brazil to re-group and beat the Dutch on Sat and Argentina to win Sunday and I"ll be happy!

I think they should keep playing but pull one player every 2-3 minutes. Hopefully there will be a goal at some point or there will be only 2 players on the field suffering from cardiac arrest.
