View Full Version : My GPS is frozen

I don't know if this has anything to do with the cold, but my GPS is completely frozen. I can go into the GPS interface but the navigation would not move. Like when I get home it will still show I am at Yorkdale mall, it's like I've never left that place.

Has anyone else experienced this? Does it have anything to do with the cold since I park my car outdoors?

Thanks!

I'm assuming this is a built in unit. I would not say its the cold, it may be an issue where the GPS receiver is not receiving a signal from the GPS antenna on your car, hence telling you you are always in the same location (The last time it was able to pick up that signal).
Could be wiring.

Find a microwave and warm it up

Yes this is a built in unit in a 2013 GT. Well it all started with the NAV button not being responsive at all, then a few days later I was able to go into the interface, then it's frozen from there on. Either way I made an appt with the dealership and let them figure it out. It's still under warranty so its their headache.

Absolutely, warranty makes it worry free.

I had this issue a few months back... also a 2013 GT. The nav button just stopped working, everything else was fine. I brought it into the dealership, sat there for 1.5 hours because apparently they need that long to figure out what's wrong. 1.5 hours later they came back and they all they had to do was re-start it... So i asked if I could do it myself the next time it happens, and they said they're the only ones that can re-start it. So I guess it's back to the dealership every time it freezes.

Luckily I will be in town for the next little while....if this happened when I went to Grove City i'd have been screwed.... :facepalm

disconnect battery and then reconnect?

Your could always remove the fuse to the unit and let it sit for 5 - 10 minutes. No need to yank the power from the rest of the car. They probably want to continue to get the "Labour Only" warranty reimbursement from Mazda Canada. A quick and easy hour charge.

They said they are not gonna bother pulling it out and repairing it, just gonna order me a new unit which is gonna be here in a couple of days.
