Hi TM3,

My main driver-side speaker sounds blown like a empty tin can rattling.

But it's NOT all the time. 80% of the time it sounds perfectly fine.

And it seems to happen more often if the car is left in the cold for a period of time. Fine in the morning but after work it isn't for example. Once in a blue moon it happens in the summer time too, when it's not cold...

It's not the deck, because I had this problem with the OEM deck & EONON deck.

Is it blown? What should I check?

Pull the door panel and inspect the speaker.... even if you can't see anything, you can try swapping it out. There are probably several people here that have OEM speakers sitting in their garage after an upgrade, so finding a replacement shouldn't be hard.

A speaker is blown or not and doesn't flip flop. Are you listening to Country music when it sounds "blown"? :P It is could be a bad connection that is causing the problem.

I experienced the same thing with my 2010 sedan way back. There are instances wherein the speaker sounded blown out but majority of the time it was okay. Like what Lumberjack mentioned, it could be a loose connection that could be causing the intermittent issue. I was suppose to switch to aftermarket speakers but ended up trading the car instead. Best to upgrade if you can, the OEM speakers are crap.

While I wouldn't go out and buy Bose myself cause it is overpriced IMO I think the sound system sounds great.
