2013 mz3 fairly new little over ten k, went to park today, pulled the e brake because it's a stick, heard a light pop, and the e brake became loose, not so much that the e brake doesn't engage it's just not as tight as it was, getting it looked at on Thursday because it should be under warranty, but just wanted some insight to see if anyone knew what it could be

Cheers

There's a kind of half pulley system at the base of the handle. Its possible the cable came out of the groove. In the first gen its super easy to pop off the cupholder area - Not sure about gen 2's. Check it out.

Edit: however, since its so new, I'd take it to the dealer - SHould be free.

If you heard a pop... you may likely have snapped 1 e brake cable or both

did that on my pathfinder

The same sort of thing happened to me the other day. Brake handle fine, then really loose for a day or two, then fine again.
Now its fine.

same, I'll admit I've been popping e-brake turns to have some fun in the snow, so I got scared when I pulled the ebrake to park and it went almost all the way back... LOL now it works, but it does it periodically. freaky stuff

All right I'll admit it. I did it doing E-brake turns in the snow too.

:chuckle: occasionally I find my e brake handle goes further up, easier than I expect. It always settles down. I may have perhaps been possibly doing unnecessary turning maneuvers in an unplowed parking lot at work...

However,My driveway is rather steep and it's never let me down. *knock on hood*
