View Full Version : Kieswetter Mazda.

I just recently purchased a Mazda 3 at Kieswetter Mazda in Kitchener Ontario and the experience was mostly good. However a few days have gone by and I can't help but feel as though I was just a number, a brief means of revenue and now I am all but forgotten.
The problem with many dealerships is their gross lack of after sales service. The average customer is all sweetened up by the sales representative pre sale, but once that purchase goes through you are nothing but an after thought... they are on to the next one.
Now I don't expect a dealership to be forever grateful to me for my patronage, but is it too much to ask for an email or a phone call inquiring about how much I like my new car?
When the time comes for my car to be serviced they will miraculously remember my existence and will be sending me all manner of communique to come in for genuine Mazda servicing.
What this and other car dealerships fail to realize is that this neglect does not go unnoticed.
The time will eventually come when I will be in need of another car. When that time comes, will I be calling on Kieswetter Mazda? Who knows...

Sorry about the breakup. Remember, there's always plenty of fish in the sea.

I'm not a fan of Kieswetter; in fact, not many members are. My experience at Kieswetter was a joke. I think the general consensus is that Forbes is the best local option. I've had nothing but great service from Forbes! (If you want some specific information, PM me..)

Doesn't surprise me, I didn't buy from there but I wasn't a fan of their service dept. Forbes service department is pretty good. Have no idea what their sales is really like but if I went Mazda again I'd start there.
Looking back, I'm amazed Guelph City called me back a few days after a few days to check in. Considering the overall experience was meh.

See I've had universally great sales experiences at Kieswetter and generally very good service experiences. Guelph was a joke... First (and only) time i went in there asking about RX-8s (i was around 23) they guy handed me a brochure, told me i'd need to put a deposit on the car if i wanted to test drive it, and sent me on my way.
3 months later I walked into Kieswetter and told the sales guy that story, and in 5 minutes we were test driving the owner's RX-8. Bought 8 cars from them since including 2 RX-8's. I feel like going back to Guelph and re-enacting that scene from Pretty Woman.... "You work on commission? BIG mistake... HUGE..."

And keiswetter sales were the only place that would let me test drive on my own when i was looking (i was 21)...service side sucked hard, but overall happy with the sales....still talk to the guy who sold me the car on facebook 9 years later

Forbes takes my vote, I did some service at kieswetter when I first moved to KW and wasn't impressed. I bought my MS3 at Forbes from Rebecca, was a pleasant experience ;) didn't test drive by myself but no arguments from them getting me out in the car and Rebecca was rather encouraging about getting into boost ;)

I agree with you about Forbes, and Rebecca as well.
She let us take out a CX5 for a test drive by ourselves and Tom let me take out the speed3 we ended up buying by myself.
I had a terrible experience at Kieswetter. Went there to take over a lease from someone and they treated me very poorly. All done over the phone and when I actually went in, they glared at me as if I was an inconvenience to their business. If the original owner wasn't already dealing with them, then I would have never dealt with them in the first place. Went to Forbes later on to get my car serviced and they were quite the opposite - great people and excellent service!

Is there more to the bad experience than how you perceived them to look at you?
All this makes me think of is this video hahaha: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3v98CPXNiSk (NSFW)

I had a shit experience with their sales department. When I was looking into buying my old Mazda 6 back in 2007 the sales guy laughed at me and said I was too young to afford the car and just walked away from me. Then I went back up to him and asked him for a brochure and he said fine. However, at that time a young couple walked in and he left me hanging. So I went back to him and apologized to the couple for cutting them off but asked the guy for the brochure. He then went and got one, but instead of giving it to me, he threw it at me and said, "there!".
So now at that point I got pissed off and told him some "kind" words and left, but the couple left the same time and said thanks to me for making them aware of the dick head... Lol
The only thing I like about kieswetter is their parts department. Those guys (Chase and Bobby) are amazing and very helpful. They are the saving grace for the dealership because the sales department is piss poor.

So I have taken away the following from reading this.
1.) OP seemed like they had a good experience when buying the car. Do you really need to have someone call you for a 30 second conversation to ensure you like that car? You are pretty much stuck with the car now anyway. The salesman I dealt with for my car (not this location) asked me numerous times before I left the lot if I was happy. Once you leave the lot you can manage the relationship, invite them to your next bbq etc.
2.) Seems like some love the sales there or hate the sales and love the service or hate the service.
Its all opinion and experience. But it's kinda funny seeing how perceptions come about

YMMV, my experience goes back 25+ yrs. I purchased a 626 new from Kieswetter, the "deal" was an arduous knock em out ordeal that took about 3 hrs. I had to wait 2 weeks for delivery (base model 626 - nothing fancy) got the car with 200+ km on it... wasn't happy.
I remember to this day vowing never to set foot on their lot again, and I never did. I lived in Waterloo, and I had all my service done in Waterloo at the dealer there. It may have been Forbes I don't remember the name. I do remember Kieswetter though. Anyhow, my experience at the Waterloo dealership for service was not always positive. So, really one dealership can be as bad as the other... and you just never know what you're going to experience, perhaps unless you have a long established relationship with the dealership. For the first time ever, I have just been a repeat customer at a dealership and I've been buying cars for 40 yrs. My decision to repeat was based on price not on pre or post sales service. As was posted above, if you are treated shabbily, vote with your feet (or tires in this case).
