Hi everyone,

I recently purchased a 2012 Mazda 3 hatch. I was wondering what you could recommend in terms of winter tires (where to buy, what to buy).

Looking to save money, but still be safe on snowy roads!

Thanks!

Hi there, congratulations on the purchase.

Where to buy? I suggest you go to the sponsors section as there are reputable service and product providers listed therein which may be able to provide you with great deals.

What brand to get? If you can afford a Michelin, Bridgestone or Pirelli brand, the better. However, there are other brands which are cheaper and are of good quality (Hankook, Gislaved etc.)

Good luck on your search. :)

I got firestone winterforce tires on my car 2 winters ago, and they barely show any wear even after two seasons. They also stick to the snow real well which is nice. Before that I had blizzacks and while they were great in the snow, they only lasted a winter and a half before I had them down to the wear bars because of how soft they are and commuting on the 407.

I have the Hankook icept evo w310, works beautifully. I had Pirelli's before, imo the icept actually holding up pretty good.

Well my Viking Snowtechs were toast. I originally wanted to get Hakkapalitta R2s but they were a grand all in! So thru some recommendations I purchased SAILUN Ice Blazers WST1s. These tires are incredible. Went thru the snow storm, ice storm etc.; with absolutely no issues. Great traction, and very smooth running tires with almost no road noise>(slight whine at highway speeds only) and braking performance is excellent. They are T rated to 180kph with a wear of 380, so they should last...obviously only time will tell, but my initial thoughts are that these are an excellent winter tire.

I have the same tires. $50 discount and they are awesome in the snow. Rated highly by Consumer Reports. Only bettered by the Michelin X-ice, which are better on ice but about same in snow.

if you could get michellin winter nordics, they are good for the price if you looking for reasonable tires.

like everyone has mentioned though, check the partners like simply tire etc
