Allright, ive got a stock deck and im thinking of putting a sub, like 8-12 inches with some amp

question is, will the stock deck be good enough to install the sub?
is there an existant output already on the deck?
What set-up would you reccomend

thanks!

There is plenty of power from the stock deck, but you will need to buy a line out converter ($30) and a wiring package ($60-80).

Okay fine, the stock deck will work fine so long as you buy a wiring kit, a loc and amp, a box and a sub

That makes way more sense.

Might be overkill but I read about this in PAS Magazine. Thought I'd throw it out there.

DQ-61 meant to maximize OEM deck.

I have something similar to that in my car. It's kind of a pain in the ass to be honest. I will probably be getting a deck soon.

I'd avoid all those 'OEM Interface' devices out there. Like the JL CleanSweep etc... You're much further ahead to buy even a cheap deck and dash kit.

As to the OP question, Hyperion was right on. you'll need an LOC run off of any speaker that will receive full power from the deck and for best results, it should be a 2ch one to put sound from both sides (L-R) of the output. You'll also need to run a power wire from the battery +ve and a shorter length of wire of equal size to ground the amp to the chassis near the amplifier itself. There are wiring kits available, but in some cases it may be cheaper to buy the lengths of bulk wire and appropriate terminals and do it yourself.

Be sure to choose appropriate sized wire for your amp... Ignore the numbers on 'kit' packaging, as they're all BS. If you're running the length of the vehicle you want true 8AWG for ~500W, and 4AWG for ~700W-1000W. (Numbers based on AWG ampacity for 75deg C cable) Fuse block will also be needed within 18" of the battery.

I'm a big JL fan, so I'm biased that way. The new JL w0 series drivers are a good economical choice, but if you wanted to step up the 10W3 drivers are a great choice. I've had good results with JL, Alpine and Kenwood amps. Personally for the money its hard to beat the Alpine M500
