I am just wondering if anyone think it will be a good idea or not to pay the $400 something odd dollars to get the SD for the navigation SD card for the 2014 mazda 3 GS

Its seriously all up to you.
If you feel you need gps and want a in-car system, buy it.
It affects no one one whatsoever other than yourself at the end of the day.

Use you phone for the rare time you need GPS. I find the smartphone GPS systems have made a jump for the better. Save you some $$ or use it for something else.

Are you tring to get updated maps for your 2014? you don't need to buy a new SD card, just update it. I think the 2014 update OTA, my 2013 has an SD card you stick in your PC to update...the nav is made by Tom Tom.

We figured we'd use our phones for nav, but we ended up not liking it. I can't listen to music and nav come through as I need it set to bluetooth on my phone for audio, and then it doesn't play the voice if I'm listening to bluetooth music. If I select any other audio option, my phone audio is no longer playing over the speaker system. So, it's either listen to nav only, or turn my phone volume up and music down to hear the nav over the music. Maybe there is some way to achieve what I want but I stopped fiddling after trying a couple options.

We also have a new driver driving the vehicle so having the maps on the screen makes it easier than using the phone for getting around as a novice. We have nav in other vehicle and I guess we're all just used to having it on the vehicle screen.

So, we're ordering the nav SD card for our GS.

Bummer, the Tom Tom updates are free.

The 2014 updates are free as well for 3 years I believe it is.

That was the understanding I was left with at MoT. My dealer explained the updates were included with the bumper-to-bumper warranty, although she almost seemed as though she was guessing.

The speed limit warning thing isn't totally accurate. Seems the data on the speed limits needs to be updated. For instance McCowan north of Steeles in Markham is a 60km/hr zone but the nav thinks it's 70km/hr. I wonder when they will release have map updates.

ya for sure. u have to take it with a grain of salt. it wont be accurate all the time. but gives you a general idea.
i did notice that it shows the upcoming street at the top of the screen while im using the music tab. would rather it be only on the navigation tab.
