I hate the the 7 inch display sticking out like that. What was Mazda thinking? Are Mazda drivers cabbies now? I have a feeling it'll change just like they once removed the side marker turn signals, then they added them back in but inside the mirror.

I've also read that people have had issues with their tech package gizmos and the car not starting in colder temps.

The screen should at the very least be able to be pushed down into the dashboard. Ideally a small motor would lift it up form the dash at startup.

No light in the glove box is another pain the arse for me...

Oh and the fact that the trunk lid doesn't not get support from a piston... I have already had the trunk close on my head twice now. Also, the arms that come down into the trunk eat up valuable trunk space while the pistons fold away into the door jamb. I have the sedan, not the sport. I believe the sport has pistons.

All small things - love this ride!

Huh?? Like when you open it all the way, or when you open it up halfway and stick your head underneath guillotine style?
If its when you open it all the way, that is indeed stupid. If its because its not open enough, that's your own fault lol

LOL no no. I open the trunk all the way but because its so light weight, even a small gust of wind will make it close... and if you happen to be reaching in to get something, your gonna feel it.

Oh wow, if a gust of wind can close it that is pretty bad.

+1 for this.

Also, not really enjoying the lack of an engine temp gauge.

but mazda has been with out a gauge since 2010. and the 2011 or 2012 only got a blue( cold temp ) red (hot temp) light. but i would much rather a gauge as well. was soo used to one in my old car for the 3 not to have it. just always been like like somethings missing.

Didn't know they got rid of it in the last gen. I like metrics, the more data I can read, the better. :)

I had a 2010 and didn't find I needed the engine temp gauge. I was actually a little surprised this car now has at least an indicator light.
My gripe happened this weekend. The hatch wouldn't lock all the way closed. It only hooked on the first latch but wouldn't go further even with a slam attempt. This left the door open light on... It worked after driving for 30 mins and trying again, but was still annoying. I never had any problems with my 2010 hatch...

Hmm. No radiator/engine gauge? That's really messed up. I guess they're relying on the Mazda puter to warn you when it gets too hot. Nothing like an old trustworthy analogue radiator gauge. Looks like it's just another way for Mazda to cut costs.

There hasn't been one since 2010, I don't think the previous 'analog' gauage was that analog to begin with.

The wife's 2011 it has not been an issue at all. If you want to monitor it more closely there are several OBD readers that can provide that information.

my 2010s doesnt even have the light but still like mr. wilson said no issues about heating or over heating. to be honest i find mazda is pretty good in that regard. dont have them coming to the dealer with over heating issues. the odd coolant / thermostat leak ( very minor when they are ) at times but other then that they are pretty good from what ive noticed. now my old focus.. thats another story. let it idle in the summer for more then 10 minutes once it has been warmed up and the gauge would increase alot.

i just hope if there is a new design redo or facelift they fix that screen thats on the top. it just looks sooo out of place.

No gage is so stupid, I had my engine replaced after 4 days on my 2010 because I hit a racoon and It broke a hose in my rad and I had no way of knowing that the engine was over heating until it was too late.

Next time just don't put fuel gages we should just rely on that non-accurate digital gage.
