Hi all,

recently my car started to jerk and shudder especially when accelerating during cold starts. Sometimes I press on the gas and the car jerks. Then I had my engine light come on and one of my mechanics tells me it's MAF sensor. Then he also told me that my CAI ( I have a mazda speed one) was loose and bolts broken causing it to rattle. I'm guessing the rattle caused the MAF to malfunction.

Brought it to a mechanic and apparently I need a new CAI and MAF sensor. He tried to help clean it up and hook my CAI back so it wasn't loose. Afterwards it seemed good for about a week but now the problem is back again.

Do u guys know approximately how much it costs to put a new MAD sensor in ? Or should I try to clean the MAF myself ?

check the MAF connector wires too.... they typically break off
the mazdaspeed CAI needs to have an air flow diverter that sits inside the tube before the MAF or you'll have issues... if you don't have it, you can order it from the dealer
you can clean the MAF yourself with electrical contact cleaner... you can find those at an electronics store
