I did the dyno today but what I need is to find a dyno of someone who did a dyno on a stock mazda3 auto since all I can find are the 5spd dynos....I will scan and post only on this board which i hope will bring some traffic this way for the board.

OK here they are...I scanned the images but first a little wright up on how the testing went because I am gonna try and answer questions before they are asked.

1) This is the manu-matic 2.3L or whatever you want to call it which is always less horsepower than a manual. (still ticked at the wife for talking me into it) (I would say 20% less than what the manufacture says since they do it from the fly wheel)(another 5-10% for the auto tranny coverter)(only dyno i have seen is here http://www.msprotege.com/vbb225/showthread.php?t=69822

2) temp was about 20C yesterday all the doors where open at the shop.

3) have 6k km on the car and havent done a oil change yet...this weekend (royal purple) ...anyone have spare o-rings the dealer was out?

4) 87 octane gas - sunoco

5) sorry but their printer was B&W only

6) yes I should have done it before adding anything at all to get a true stock number but I didnt but if anyone has one or a link to one please post it here.

7) all I have done was add a CAI (in which one of my first posts I stated I noticed a big difference in accel which you will see in the numbers why) and also added a ractive muffler and took of the second cat (which I think I would say there are no gains there until I get a nice cat--back doen up but was a quick fix because I hate not hearing the engine)

8) you can see in the pics that right around 5200rpm is when the computer would start settling down the air/fuel mgmt

Now for the run details. All runs where done up to almost 6500rpm in 3rd (1:1 ratio/common)

1) was driving the car 40 minutes (some hwy) and when I got there took about 15 minutes to setup car on dyno so engine was quite warm and also this was jsut more of a test run. Also this was done with the stick in \"D\" *notice the spike in the torque*

2) waited 5 minutes and did another run but this time they used the manu-matic. They screwed up the print out with the air/fuel mixture thats why there is no line there.

3) 3rd run (in \"D\") was after 15 minutes of cool down with a big ass fan blowing on the engine and which was the best run.

The guys at the shop said that there wasn\'t enough fuel compared to air and they said a good piggy back system, some software and a chip would fix that (hurry up companys make something)

All and All I am happy with the results. even though it is less than the manual I find that the car is stong and with the tq being even with the whp that is what I like to see.

It is some hope for anyone who wants to get a auto but I would still tell them to go with a stick if possible. So now thats it for me until I store it for the winter then I might do the exaust up nice and hopefully by then there will be more stuff for our 3\'s.

Thanks for your time in reading this.

ty mr canada3
excellent write up btw

lookin at ur 3rd run
a good piggy bak ecu/chip and good tuning
can smooth out the power delivery (like what the dyno guys said to u)
nasty power dip at 4500
and after it peaks at 4800 it just goes down
thats just 300 rpms before u \'lose\' it again
thats nasty
got a real healthy amount of tq tho
overall, impressive

thumbsup! (we need more smilies!)

I put my car on the dyno.... 2.3 L with AT.

Max HP 128 and Max Torque 127.....

I\'m looking at your numbers.... How do you have 148 Torque on your first run? I thought our cars only had 150 on paper... how did you manage to only lose 2 points? you have any mods?

looking at xenon\'s numbers (haven\'t seen the graph yet to see the differences between the area under the curves) and canada3\'s numbers it would appear that the CAI gained 3hp and 4lb-ft...which means, in essence, absolutely nothing since a stock dyno wasn\'t done on canada3\'s car to show if there were any gains as a result of the CAI.

don\'t mean to come across as harsh but, different cars, different days, different dynos, different variables. comparing a stock dyno of another person\'s car is not indicative of the gains one will get on their car with a \"performance\" mod.

comparing a stock dyno with a \"modified\" dyno on the SAME car performed on different days can also be misleading but at least it is representative of what kind of gains were seen on that particular car.

are you sure the guy said your car is running lean?

I think a 11:1 A/F is rich isn\'t it?
