Snarl, Swoop, Slag, Grimlock and Sludge were the original line up.

Swoop and Grimlock were always my favourites.

Beast Wars was good, Beast Machines was weird.

Unfortunately no matter how bad the stories are in Transformers, they still make a butt load of money. This has Dinobots. Cha Ching!! That's what this series has been all about. They could have at least gotten a better director than that hack named Michael Bay.

All I have to say is: luckily the tickets were free.

Of course, the experience was made worse by some farting teenagers or "20 somethings" next to us who would seem to let one fly once the action started to intensify. Oddly, the movie could have done without the part filmed in China, but then we wouldn't have seen the Dinobots!

Transformers 1 seems to be the only one that was worth seeing. Shame how much the following movies have sucked yet they manage to make billions because of the Transformers name. Michael Bay is a hack and could care less what critics or people think.

And not only does this installment have alien robots that transform into cars - but it has Alien robot DINOSAURS! I mean c'mon! How can this NOT be a must see movie?!!?

No one is expecting an award winner but there can be action movies with a good story. Basically its the same Michael Bay movie.....slow mo, view of a helicopter overhead, camera angles looking upwards, women in short skirts/shorts/high heels, crappy dialogue, explosions, car chases with exploding cars, etc. In all honesty, it was basically 80% of Dark of the Moon with new characters.

Problem is that the Transformers name can sell anything. Even an average at best movie.

Should have used my Scene points for Snowpiercer.

I know what you mean though, jonjon72. But it is a kids summer blockbuster movie that will sell no matter what. Just look at other comic book bombs...Dare Devil, green lantern, Thor 2.... All sucked balls, but marketed up the wang for toys and clothing success. And no matter how bad the dialogue is going to be - it will continue to be a success simply because it's "the Transformers"

I mean - even with all the bad reviews - you still went to go watch it (and so will I)

Yes even with the bad reviews and such, I wanted to see the movie. Like any movie of this sort, you just have to leave your brain at the door and just enjoy the movie.

Actually, only DareDevil and Green Lantern bombed at the theatre. Both didn't recoup their costs when marketing was added. Thor 2 was a hit, made $$ and average ratings. Toy sales for these movies are minimal unlike Transformers which started as a toy.

After seeing Amazing Spider Man 2 and Transformers 4, I've now chose to be pickier with my films. Won't be seeing future films unless they go a different direction and reduce the excessive use of CGI to compensate for poor stories. Movies such as Captain America 2, Xmen DOFP have shown that action/comic book movies can be done with the perfect mix of effects, story and action.

No it would be silly to expect that from a franchise designed to sell toys since the 80s. However the first movie was genuinely enjoyable why can't he re capture that?
