Chromecast is $39 + free shipping for those who don't have one yet: http://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00IT92PR0

But do your own research first, Chromecast has its pros and cons.

Its for sharing/slinging media.

You will need a hefty internet plan if you do plan on doing this.

Not sure what all the hype is about. Samsung smartphones already have the capability of controlling a tv don't they?

How do you know whether your tv has HDTV? Would their be a port named that?

I've got one on each TV. My only complaint is that I couldn't set it up through my pc because it's wired, not Wi-Fi. And for some reason my Asus MeMoHD and runbo X5 couldn't connect to it, I had to use my dads Samsung tablet. After the initial trouble with the setup though, it works great.

Have been considering this. Could you control this using a iPad instead of an Android device?

how much is the plex pass? I've got about 6TB of movies and tv shows. I currently only use my chromecast for netflix and youtube because my LG TV has smartshare built in, but i'd rather navigate through a Tablet for a remote than with the remotes directional pad

It's 4$/month, 30$/year or 75$ for life.

You no longer need plexpass to use your Chromecast, they opened it up.

so as long as you're using chromecast you don't pay? Because I think my TV's plex app requires a subscription. That's why i passed on it initially

Correct...Plex opened up chromecast. No paid subscription needed. You still need an account though
