View Full Version : Annoyed with Select Mazda

I brought my car in for service yesterday at Select Mazda. When I got into my car after the service, the first thing I noticed was a strong odour of automotive oil. There were oil smears on my shifter and steering wheel, along with ginormous oily footprints on the driver's side footrest and mat. This is now the third time this sort of thing has happened to me, and it's seriously making me question the level of care and quality at this dealership. When I complained the first time, the service advisor offered me a free interior detail to which I politely declined because I had already cleaned it myself. Why aren't the mechanics placing a paper mat on the floor of the driver's side? Even Active Green & Ross did this with my 11-year-old car that was already run-down! It's very infuriating to me. It's unacceptable and unprofessional practice. On the plus side, service has always been timely - maybe too timely because this sort of careless behaviour happens.

Anyone else have this problem at other dealerships? Or am I just being anal-retentive?

I also haven't had the best of experiences there. I bought my 2014 GT from them and went in for my first service. Expressed some concerns over some minor issues and the gentleman at the front desk hardly gave me the time of day and dismissed my concerns.

I have free oil changes for a year and once those are up I plan to take my car to Burlington for it's future work.

If you don't mind my asking, what kind of concerns did you bring forward? The service advisor I've dealt with has been unresponsive at times as well. If I was in charge of a dealership, I would never let any of the mechanics return a customer's car in the condition I got mine. It's beyond unprofessional. Now, I know it's a 19-year-old kid that's more than likely working on my car, but that's no excuse. I just don't get it. If you keep your customers happy, they will keep coming back. It's such a simple concept, yet it evades so many business owners. :facepalm

Why not bring it to the attention of the Service Manger or Dealer Principal?

Fuel milleage concerns where brought forward to which he said I should consider using premium fuel. We all know this is BS and he never once actually asked what my milleage was.
I expressed concerns with the infotainment system not working properly. It wouldn't sync to my phone at tiimes, the system would lose my presets and my backup camera would randomly stop working. His only answer was we haven't heard of these issues so your SOL. I would have hoped to at least hear him say if a fix becomes available we will be in touch.
Lastly I complained about an error about the charging system malfunctioning to which he did not have an answer for but the service manager finally chimed in saying there was a fix for it.

I just feel my car is I'm better hands in Burlington.

I don't recall the gentlemans name but he was around 50 and slightly larger. Was obvious he cared about getting you in and out ASAP without actually caring.
