Hello Everyone!
I am new to new to the forum. I have joined recently but have been an active reader for a few months.
Anyways, i pulled the trigger on a 2014 mazda 3 hatchback GS. Love the car.
I have problem. I went to a shop near pacific mall and had HID's w/ ballasts installed in my low beams. Everything worked fine until yesterday (4-5 days later) when i noticed my right fog light stopped working. The HID's work fine and the left fog light..
I am not very technical and i don't understand the ins and outs of how beams work. My concern is the fog light isnt turning on. Is it caused because of the HID install?
I plan to go to the shop and have them put my Halogen bulbs back and then visit the dealer to get the replacement.
Anyone come across this type of problem?
Is there a place i can visit in North York that help me out?
Thanks guys!

Have you tried looking at your foglight bulb yet?
The HID's should have nothing to do with your fogs.
I suggest doing the most common sense thing and replacing your fog light......

Where do i buy a replacement fog light and what type is it?
Also how difficult is it to do it myself?
Is it possible for a fog light to burn out within 7 days? The car has l 500km on it.

It is possible for a fog light to be burnt out. But I highly doubt it. Sounds like they have done something wrong. Take it back and have them fix it.
With todays multiplexed electrical systems the head lights and fog lights are probably tied in some how.
Last thing you want is a crappy HID install resulting in damage to your car and a warranty refusal because it was tampered with.

You can buy the bulb at any store that sells auto parts. Look up the sylvania bulb guide on google and see what type of bulb it is.
I am assuming if you couldn't install HID's yourself, you can't change the fog light.

You shouldn't have issues with a 5-day old product.
Take it back and let them figure out what's wrong. You shouldn't have to stress yourself over it

You can always just take the bulb from the left that's working and plug it into the right one to rule out being burned or not. Maybe when they put the ballasts in who know they hooked the fog wires and got it lose.
The bulbs are easy to switch, they're just twisted and snapped in place. There a clip you need to press to release the wire from the bulb.

Put your OEM bulbs back in and take it back to the dealer. If its a fog light issue let them handle it. The car had barely been on the road

I put in the OEM bulbs back and took out the HID connectors. My friend mentioned the HID's that were installed are very poor quality and the ballast was pretty much plastic with no metal casing.
I will visit the dealer today to get the fog lights repaired.
I noticed the fog light that is broken has black filling on inside which probably means its blown.
Where in Toronto can i get a professional HID install with people who know what they are doing?
I feel like my pacific mall experience was a waste of money and the garage that installed them is not very knowledgeable i tried calling them and they obviously said that they are not at fault..
Thanks in advance guys!

Street performance is the most recommended on the forum. You can check out his reviews on the sponsors page.
For the hid install it's not that difficult to screw-up, but you can take it to just about anyone that knows point A goes to point B.
Although I cannot say that for sure since I've never dealt with the newest model.
And welcome to the forum!

What is the average price for HID install? I payed about $140 at pacific mall with installation. Not sure if that is low or high.
Is there a possibility again if i get new HID installed my fog lights will burn out again?

I'm going to say that this is low for installation + HID kit. And no, the proper HID retrofit shouldn't cause blowing fog lights.

Okay. Well good news. I went to the dealer they changed the fog lamp with no questions asked. However, they were surprised that the bulb burnt right through and even asked me if i had upgraded my fogs in the past 7 days of owning the vehicle.
I guess i will be look more into the HID kit installation for the mazda 3.
I have a question as to getting a 8000k kit installed with a ballast (a good one? whatever that may look like), should the ballast be 35w or 55w? Is there any chance that my battery can't support the required power output?
I will use a sponsored vendor from the website for sure but is there anyone closer to North york??
Thanks again everyone, this forum is mighty awesome.
Also i love my mazda 3, coming from a challenger its quite amazing to have such great feel over a car.. I feel like my challenger was a boat compared to the 3 :)

I think the best thing to do is to research and invest in a quality set of HID's with reliable ballasts and good warranty. I paid $135 for just the ballasts, relay, and bulbs from The Retrofit Source (Morimoto brand 35W). I installed them myself.
Whatever problems I have with the set, TRS has been more than happy to replace and resolve my issues for me. This includes sending me a new set without charge, all they ask is that you send them a picture of your old ballast wires cut.
Either Jimmy (Street Performance) or Kelvin (Import Tuning) could do a competent job installing these. Hope that helps!
