Quick question :)

I went to the dealership for my second oil change and also with an issue I noticed with my headlights. The drivers side headlight basically does not reach as far as the passenger side headlight. On all my previous cars the light from the headlights reach beyond the car and there is usually a straight line on the road where the reach typically stops. Basically both headlights have the same reach.

On my 2014 3 GT there is a significant difference in reach between the lights. The drivers side reach is substantially less than the passenger side. The dealership told me this is done on purpose to prevent oncoming traffic from being blinded. Can anyone confirm this? Seems kind of silly to me :S

Thanks!
Jay

What the dealership told you is true. The step is especially visible if you have HID headlamps as the cutoff is much sharper than halogens. I'm assuming that's what you have as my 2010 GT has the HID.

Yes I agree that the dealership is telling the truth. And that it is there with all headlights with factory setup, it just more noticeable with HIDs.

Check your car against another GT, maybe the driver to passenger headlight leveling ratio is off?
Driver side is suppose to aim a little lower. From your post, it sound slike there is a huge difference

yes this would be correct, it is designed not to take out the eyes of others coming towards you. if you go up to a wall. is the level the same? and then if you back away from it you should still notice the level of both is the same but the drivers is cut more to the right for the above purpose.

Thank you everyone for the responses.

The dealership said they measured the variance between the lights and said they are within range of the design.

Thank you again,
Jay
