Hi All,

I just wanted to get some quick advice as I'm thinking of taking my car in tomorrow cause I'm frustrated with this noise I keep getting.

Around a month ago, I got my new 18inch setup installed for the summer. Mazdaspeed rims with Goodyear Eagle Sport tires... and all was okay. An alignment was done at the time that these tires were put on.

I've been driving on them for about a month or 2,000KM and have noticed that around 40km/hr or higher there is a great amount of road noise. I know that my winter tires also did this but my OEM mags/tires that came with the car don't seem to have that noise ( or from what I can remember). A friend of mine told me that it might be a broken wheel bearing that's making the noise. It's really annoying as it's so loud that you can't talk to the person beside you without raising your voice. Just wondering if it's just the tire pattern, or maybe something else? Just as a sidenote: there is no vibration coming from the rims/tires just a horrible road noise...

Sounds similiar to this: http://s36.photobucket.com/user/kvist40/media/IMG_1537.mp4.html

Bigger wider tires mean more grip on the road which leads to more road noise. I have the same issue

My summer tires are noisier than my winter tires. Which I think is just due to the design/quality of the tires.

Brand new tires, or used?

Less profile, wider can lead to more noise. These tires don't look to be very quiet either. Tirerack test as a reference. But look around, it might just be that these tires are a little on the noisy side.
