Hello:

If anyone knows:

Currently own - Almost new Winter Set - 17" Steel RIM with Micheline Xice3 205/55R16 Mounted. (Came of 2010 GT Sport)

New vehicle is 2014 GS - Dealer is telling me that this will not work with the new 2014....

What is the difference ?

Thanks

Bolt pattern is the same, assume a 17 would clear the brakes (as 16 in alloys are stock on the GS).

Doubt the offset would differ that much.

Think the dealer is blowing smoke.

If you're buying the car make them test the tires before purchase.

Noticed you said you have a 17 inch rim with 205/55R16. Is that a typo? Maybe the dealer thought you were talking about your tires fitting on the rim?

If it's just a typo then I also cannot see why they wouldn't work. +1 before test fitting before purchase.

It was a typo - it should be 16" RIM

Thanks

The dealer is obligated to tell you that a 205/55r16 tire won't work on the 2014 model because the new models come with 205/60r16. Your winter set will work 100% but just be aware that it is not a factory size anymore, so if you have any issues with the power train they will blame it on the tire size and try to void your warranty. That being said, as long as you keep your original tires handy and do not service the car at the dealership you won't have any problems.
