Just finished installing new 6000K Hid on my car (2005 mazda 3) and drove home last night everything was fine , this morning was about to leave for work and notice my DRL which is the new HID won't come on, seems to work fine if i turn on all the lights without the car being started but as soon as the car starts the HID/DRL won't power on at all. any recommendation on a fix for this? or anyone i can take the car too to have it fix would be appreciated.

DRLs don't use as much power as your regular lights, so they don't power up the HID ballast and don't turn on the HIDs. As for a fix I'll leave that to someone that knows more about your gen

ahh ok was hoping it wasn't a problem with the installation , kinda makes sense what you said so definatly appreciate the reply and answer

05 does not have separate DRL fuse you can pull out,

We have a DRL relay harness, this is not standard relay. this triggers at 3v.

Or

You can get standard relay harness and trigger relay from parking light, instead of low beam.

Found a fix for anyone having the same problem.
You can order a canbus fix from kbcarstuff.co.

Thanks!! If the canbus fix doesn't work I'll be sure to contact you for more Info on these.

Or you can use an Anti-flicker capacitor, they are about $10 shipped and direct plug and play with your HID's (Might be somewhat what motormanic has)

Thanks so much for the suggestion and reply of course. Really appreciate the help.

... or you can disconnect your parking brake switch :P

Well I have an 04 mazda 3, had the same problem slightly, I just installed the 6000k HID hopeing it would be alright not knowing the the drl are the same lights as my lowbeams so they were constantly on. this caused flickering and sometimes them just failing to be on. What solved it was a harness, I would not recommend getting the anti-flicker stuff because that may not fix it, get a harness from the place that you bought the kit or if you can't the sponsor above seems pretty cool too. Either way a harness seems to be your best fix.

The anti-flicker capacitors won't help with flickering?
I tried the harness on my 06 and it didn't do anything better, the anti-flicker capacitors fixed all my problems.
Not sure if there is a difference between the 04, 05 and the 06 models. But it works perfect for the 06.

HIt helps flicker, but its not what he needs.

His lights did not fire due to low voltage of the DRL (HID's need a constant 12V, not the lower voltage used to dim the headlights to become DRL), the anti-flicker capacitor changes to full voltage regardless of the setting (DRL, ON or auto)

So can you explain why it won't work?

Like I said before, I know there is subtle changes between years in the same generation, But the harness alone did nothing for an 06, you have to use a capacitor (Whether it is in the harness or by itself).

The DRL signal is a 12v pulse.

A capacitor should fix the problem.

Update.... so got the anti flicker device installed it and nothing.... so needless to say that didn't work , will give the capacitor a try and if still nothing just go back to stock lights...

Thanks for this! might try it but hopefully won't screw it up , and no idea where to even find those capacitors from... :/ anyone know a shop or something that can help maybe?

the anti flicker device is a capacitor.
do you know for sure if the ballasts and light still work before you start throwing parts at it?
my guess is you burnt out your ballasts or bulbs by feeding them under voltage for too long.
the anti flicker (capacitor) will make them fully on regardless of the setting.

These are what I used.

Locate a local electronics store. Like electrical components, not like futureshop. They're cool stores and have tons of stuff for really cheap.

If you never fixed this problem my 12' has full hid fogs, lows and highs and on the 12 high beams are drls but at lower voltage during the day from what I have read is it's a pulsating current, but what I do is I just run my fogs as drls so I did the parking light delete and run with my parking lights on, just another solution
