I've been having a problem for a while now where my AC compressor is making a chirping sound every couple of seconds when the AC is running. I've researched like crazy trying to find a fix for it. The only thing I was able to find is my dealership telling me they can put a cap over the compressor, but it's gonna cost me 200 bucks ... for a cap. Does anyone know of a better way that I can fix it myself ??

I'm not sure what cap the dealer is going to install, but it sounds like some sort of sound deadening solution, which doesn't address the problem, but tries to hide it. Not good in my book.
In any case, it would be good to hear the noise. If it's a chirp like you describe it could be from the serpentine belt. A good method to determine if the belt is the source of the noise is to spray the belt with a water and soap solution while the AC is on and see if the noise goes away.

Another, more costly culprit could be the AC compressor bearing or the clutch.

What year is your car?

It could be this.

I have had same issue for long time and it's annoying to the point I try not to use my A/C. I've 2010 model. How come when I try to lookup this TSB I can't find it by the number? Is this a legit TSB?

TSB #07-13-02

Some vehicles may exhibit a squeak noise from the magnetic clutch of the A/C compressor. The noise occurs every time the magnetic clutch engages, and is caused by insufficient engagement force between the pressure plate and the A/C compressor pulley. To correct the problem, the design of the pressure plate has been changed again to further increase the strength.

Is this information available publicly or I have to pay for subscription to get access to it?

Either way, I just got a call from the dealer that they contacted Mazda Canada to get approval for (extended) warranty repair.

I tried that and couldn't find it. Either way Service Advisor told me the she couldn't just apply TSB because my car was off warranty. I have extended warranty (MAP) and she submitted it to Mazda.

What was the final repair needed and did it fix the problem?

So mazda has approved the repair and I have an appointment for Monday. The service advisor said that there is a magnetic clutch kit that they need to install. The clutch was redesigned in order to fix this issue.

Glad to hear it worked out. What is the manufacture date of your 2010? (check the sticker inside driver's door).

Having a 2010 built in April 2010 I'm curious if this new re-designed clutch made it into the main production during 2010.

So their replaced the A/C magnetic clutch (same thing as TSB) and looks like there is no more noise, but I only had A/C running for couple minutes. I will test so more when I actually need A/C, but I don't see a reason why their updated part wouldn't fix it.

My car was built in April 2009 and I bought it in August 2009 so one of the first models, but according to that TSB it looks like its 2010-2011 models.
