While shopping for rims I keep getting offered Neuton tires or Sailun. A lot of companies like RimRim swear by Neuton tires. Anyone have anything to say about those tires?

Sailun is a Chinese tire company I believe, I am pretty sure thew is also a thread where the tire failed and shredded apart at the sidewall......

They are cheap tires. My friend got Neuton3000s I think and they were very grippy but after spending a lot of money on re-balancing, re-aligning etc several timres they were always pulled to the right like crazy. Sold them with the car.
AFAIK Sailun is even worse.

Cheap tires are hit and miss. Since tires are very important it is best just to get a reputable brand.

Bridgestone
Continental
Dunlop
Yokohama

Throw the rest in the garbage.
If you're still scratching your head over Sailun vs. Neuton, then do yourself a favour and install some Motomasters while you're at it.

You guys are taking about TIRES, but he's talking about TYRES.

This is the same guy that says stiff suspension will make your car become airborne.

SHeit! I've gotta throw both sets out!...

Coincidentally, recently had this discussion at work with several of our mechanics at lunch. Consensus from all of them was that Michelin are by far the best tires out there, (In general). Before anyone questions this, these guys have almost a century of experience on the matter accumulatively. One point they all agreed upon was the fact that when 'balancing' Michelin's, they very rarely needed weights, and if so, very little; A point to consider about the excellence of tire quality and manufacturing tolerances throughout.

Whoa sorry for missing out on your Michelin, guys. My deepest condolences.
Sure thing, add Ventus and Pilot Sport to the list if helps you sleep at night.
It still stands that the largest manufacturers tend to produce the most consistent and reliable tyres.

Depends on what line of Michelin and where it was made. We've had staggering range of feedback from customers who buy Michelin tyres and it ranges from excellent to mediocre to poor.
Generally, the X-ice and MXV & MXM families were the most praised lines, whereas the Pilot Sport, Latitude, and Pilot Alpin lines were the worst.
The nicer ones were made in France and Germany, and the worst quality tyres were made in USA, Italy, and Hungary.
By nicer, I'm speaking about the rubber moulding, road force, consistency of sidewall stiffness. In most cases, you get what you pay for.
Bridgestone and Continental were, without equal, the most consistent as far tyre quality and road force are concerned.
Pilot Sport versus ContiExtremeContact: the Conti is certainly superior as a road tyre. Competition use is another matter.
We have a Hunter GSP9700 for road force/sidewall measurements.
