Created this thread because I have always wondered, Just found out.

Transportation Association of Canada's specification of 80 millimeters as maximum.
Or 3.14961 Inches

If my Google searches didn’t lead me to false answers…. So don’t blame me if you bottom out!
Also if this is based on brand new vehicles with no added weight.
I have yet to measure my 2008 Mazda 3 Sedan GX

Most of us are illegal then LOL. So this would be bumper height from the floor to the lower part of the bumper?

Well the technical term is considered Ground Clearance, so I would expect that the measurement is the lowest part of the car, besides the wheels of course.

Thanks! Glad you think so.

How is "safe" max drop defined? Or is that the drop that can likely be expected with out requiredsome kind of camber correction to bring the car back ninto factory alignment?

Seems like he is just saying that for the distance from a speed bump to the stock height of the cars.

The max drop define by Transportation Association of Canada and the maximum height of any speed bump and the clearance specified by what I was able to find on google and cross referencing with other websites.

If the wheels are all aligned with camber correction, then the specified drop of springs should be as what manufacturer says, unless the springs start to sage. But sagging would be product specific.

Yes!

Max height of speed bump is 80 mm or 3.14961 Inches

Example:
2009, 2008, 2007 Mazda 3 (Sedan & Sport)
Stock Ground Clearance = 4.8”
Safe Max Drop = 1.65”

In this circumstance the stock high of 4.8" can be lowered by 1.65" which would allow a modified ground clearance of 3.15" which would clear a speed bump with max high of 3.14961"
