So the car at Midas with my GF right now. It started making the sound all of a sudden yesterday. Couldn't get it over to Jimmy since he's always booked a week in advance.

Midas is saying they're pretty sure it's my engine mounts. They're blaming it on my BC Racing BRs which Jimmy installed last year. Saying the car isn't meant for them and are telling her they should be changed as well. This sounds like BS to me.

What do you guys think?

Stiff suspension kills engine mounts. That's a new one.

your mistake is taking the car to midas for that sort of thing. places like that dont even do a good job on the one thing they say they do best. take the car to a reputable garage to get another opinion.

check your transmission fluid too, if that helps.

OP should just give Jimmy a call and see about getting it checked out.

The OP can easily check the #3 PMM (passenger side) mount looking for any physical damage, broken rubber bushing and oil in the surrounding area (indicative of a leaking mount - these are oil filled).

Pretty easy to read my first post and see that he's always booked way to far in advance. Same goes with any reputable garage unfortunately. The chains for the most part are the only ones able to accommodate emergency fixes.

And sarujo why do you talk to people in the third person? Can easily just say "you"...

Anyway they changed the engine mounts and it's running great again. I told them to shove it when it came to the rest of the suggestions, including changing my tranny fluid "because it's black" even though Jimmy changed it this past winter.

Thanks for the help guys. Including you, third-person guy.

If your mechanic changed the fluid via a simple drain and fill it most likely is still black, if he flushed it out using OEM fluid, it also could very well be black. The Mazda OEM ATF isn't the greatest stuff.

You can verify this for yourself by simply pulling the tranny dipstick (orange or yellow head) and look at the colour of the fluid and give it a quick smell.

Glad to hear you got your original problem fixed.
