Does anyone know if XM radio hardware is installed within the infotainment system in a 2014 Mazda 3 GT with no tech pkg ?

If it isn't does anyone know if it's just a matter of going into the dealership and asking them to software unlock the infotainment system OR would I need additional hardware (parts # would be appreciated)? My thinking is that as long as you have the 7" infotainment system (GS & GT) that all the hardware are there, it's just a matter of 'unlocking' the functionality. I mean if an owner of a GS can just order an SD card for their nav, why can't a GT owner without tech do the same thing for XM?

Any help would be appreciated.

IIRC you can only get XM with tech. There is no accessory kit from Mazda to put it in.

I have been trying to figure out the same thing, but haven't found anything yet.

Without tech, you will not have all the components (tuner/antenna) to make it happen.

You will have to get an aftermarket kit that broadcasts via FM Tuner or something hardwired in.

It would be great if it was just a matter of plugging in a module but hence this is why they make different trim levels and piss us all off when we can't get what we want.

I just picked up a mazda 3 sport with manual transmission and you can't get the tech package with the manual transmission so does that mean that all manual GTs won't be able to get xm? Because if so that sounds pretty dumb to me.

The options http://www.mazdausa.com/MusaWeb/displayPage.action?pageParameter=modelsSpecs&vehicleCode=M3H no XM.
Honestly, I have the Bose system and while it sounds good I just changed the deck and wish I would have done it sooner as the factory system lacks. I used to run a portable XM unit in the arm rest (which you don't have) into the AUX input for the last two years and now have it integrated into the deck but there are so many other options with an aftermarket deck.
