TDLR, Car wont start sometimes in first crank. Makes sound similar to video. What is it?
Long version:
2010 Mazda5 with the 2.3L 5-speed. ~90000kms
So last week saturday I forgot my car keys in the ignition(engine off) which keeps the radio running. I noticed it about 6 hours later.
The battery was a little weak to start after that but the car eventually started. After that every morning for the past week(and random times during the day), I've been unable to start in first crank and it gives a loud screeching noise. It is almost thesame sounds like when the engine is running and the ignition is cranked again. Low and behold, I tried to record it this morning and it started on first crank using the old battery.
It did it every morning for the past week(Sunday to Saturday). I was sure it was the battery so I installed a brand new battery from costco yesterday and it had the same issue for the rest of the day so I removed the new battery and re-installed the old one.
Reading online, broken teeth on my flywheel or a bad starter soleniod or various other thing were mentioned. What is a common failure on these Mazda3?
