Hello everyone,
I have had new winter tires mounted on some old mazda protege rims and installed on my Mazda3, the service was done at one of the sponsors here earlier this week.
I drove for over 500km with no issues on the same day; next day however, after exiting the car wash, I have noticed the clip between the rim and tire is missing.
I drove at various speed levels after finding out about the missing weight - there are no vibrations or other changes that I could notice.
Now, can it be the case that the weight was not mounted on one of the wheels at all? (Never bothered to check after installation)?
If the wheels are slightly out of balance - is there any adverse effects on safety? (Should I be returning to the shop ASAP?)

Go balance them if you want peace of mind. If there are no vibes it's not a pressing issue.

Balancing is pretty quick and easy, so even if it needs doing it won't cost much.

I just put on used ones on my mazda and I've been driving it for at least 250kms.. vibrates the whole car like a b**** especially 85kms+ speed.. does this mean I need to get it balanced?

Yes.
If anything to at least eliminate an unbalanced wheel as the cause.

Or it could be the actual tire if the tread is uneven

Get them balanced. If it still happens, you could have a shifted belt, uneven wear, or a bent rim. The joys of buying used....

Relax. You're fine.
Wheels do not always need weights. Or, they may have only required weight on the inner edge of the wheel, and not the outter. If you have no vibrations, you are good to go.

This. Although it is harder to pick up on vibrations if the wheel you're concerned about is in the back.

the tires are definitely uneven since the person that owned it before didn't know that you were suppose to rotate the tires.. :bang can't blame the lady though..

Lack of rotation wont cause uneven wear across the tread. It will cause uneven wear in the sense that the amount of wear is uneven.
- Put the tires with most tread on the REAR
- Get them Balanced
Most shops are competent when it comes to balancing a basic wheel and tire setup. Any sponsor on here should be able to help. I'm not familiar with shops in Brampton, sorry.
