Hi everyone

Just wondering if anyone here has ever replaced a faulty FRESH AIR INTAKE ACTUATOR Part No. BBY4-61-B60 ?

Im wondering what the exact procedure is? is it a 1.5 hr job or a 8 hrs job? Any info would be greatly appreciated. I was having an issue with the air recirculation mode but now I'm hearing a pretty loud clicking noise coming from in the dash....there is a couple of youtube videos of the exact same noise I'm having.

The actuator up inside the dash that changes from recirc to outside? I can't see that being very fun. Only time I've ever had one off was replacing the dashboard, for me, its about a 2 hour job, but I have the dashes out all the time.

Hey guys, I'm reviving an old thread to find out if anyone has found a temporary fix to this problem.
You get an annoying ass knocking sound under the centre of your dash because the actuator that controls the fresh air diverter flap fails. So, when you turn off the recirculate option on your HVAC and the noise starts and continues intermittently.
Mazda will charge too much to tear it apart, so of anyone has found a fix to just leave the flap in the fresh air position it would be a huge help.
This appears to be a common problem, and if it has been discussed elsewhere and I missed it in my search I apologize in advance.
Thanks very much.

Yes this is an old thread but I have found a documented solution that can perhaps help others here...

Seems like this is a common problem after some Net searching..Mazda 2, 3 and 6 owners affected.

The writer of the blog took 2.5 hours, but reader feedback seems to range from 30 mins to 1.5 hrs. After almost 8 years, mine just started to click. Going to order the part and head over to see Jimmy.

Come on booter, stop polluting the environment with the drive thru's! :chuckle

Now my actuator does the annoying tick after starting up the car for the first 20 seconds or so - super annoying. Gotta get that part ordered asap.
