Not really an electrical issue but i need some help with my HID's

I bought them a couple of days ago and decided to install them today.

http://i59.tinypic.com/2czd8q8.jpg

I installed them without any issues and they look great!

http://i61.tinypic.com/2dc8vwn.jpg

Now the package came with these metal brackets which im assuming are used to mount the ballasts.

TBH i have no clue where to mount these in my engine bay and how.

So for the time being i've just taped them down and they're held down well.

http://i61.tinypic.com/2vmbvpc.jpg

Now my issue is that they could become loose and move around in my engine bay causing issues

Has anyone mounted the ballasts in their engine bay? Where should i mount mine? And how?

Thanks.

I used 3m double sided tape for mine and there is a flat spot on the bottom of the headlight housing where you can mount them

I actually mounted mine up by the struts. I used double sided tape and zipties.

I didn't want to drill into the car, and I wanted to have them accessible (and its a good thing I did) seeing I've had to replace 1 ballast twice already.

I can post a pic later. Also where you have it on the fuse box now... People say the ballasts can get hot, so plastic isn't a real good surface for them, however; mine don't feel hot at all even after running for an hour.

But on top of the fuse box might be a PITA If ya blow a fuse!

I did almost the same thing with what Girds said.. I'll take a pic after work and post it here... it only requires double sided tape..

As promised, not stealth by any means... but easy access!

I couldn't get a picture of the ballasts but all you can see is the wires, I have hid high beams and low beams so all 4 ballasts are completely hidden http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15/02/09/ea6dc3b3c2afc14d3804b8cebc522e41.jpghttp://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15/02/09/f64f336a487416910c54bb794e3639e5.jpg

Ok thanks for the mounting tips guys!

But now i have another issue. This one seems to be with either the fitment of the bulb itself or the whole system itself.

If im correct the headlights are suppose to adjust the angle of light according to the spinning of the steering while right?
Well its not doing that anymore and i also have this problem with my left projection

http://i60.tinypic.com/jufp8l.jpg

As you can see theres a portion in the middle missing which is only visible against a flat surface.
Also when im driving i notice that both headlights aren't projecting light on to the ground equally. It looks like there are 2 separate projections

Help?

issue has been resolved.

I took out the bulb and removed the circular red rubber piece which was on the inside of the bulb and it twisted right into spot on both sides.

Now they both look even and light its well distributed

The red rubber seal is there to prevent the bulb from floating around inside the housing. Its to make sure its a weathertight seal inside the housing. It looks like when the bulb was mounted to the base, they didn't put it on right, or you have one with the lead down, and one with the lead up.

Looking at your cut off as well (wait, what cuttoff, this is not a retrofit ;) ), it appears the bulb is pointing down too much, thus causing these weird effects.

Go look at the bulbs from Retrofit source, I use them with my setup, and have had no issues like that.

As for mounting your ballasts - I put one under the headlight on the passenger side (due to very little clearance and mounting issues) and the driver side its mounted to the subframe// frame rail just under where the factory wiring harness is. (both of these are required to remove the bumper)

What did you pay for the kit?

Those bulbs are very incorrectly seated. You should keep those rubber o rings on there as they prevent condensation.

I've used a lot of electric tape and covered every possible entry into the housing and made sure the bulb doesnt move at all.

It's been almost 2 weeks now and they are snug inside the housing

$100 for the whole kit

$100 for the whole kit

That's not bad, I paid $120 for three kits, one for highs, lows, and fogs

Great example hyperion. The morimoto stuff is always the way to go. Nice cut off, never could get mine lined up like that

I'm not trying to say ddmtuning is as good as all the high end ones but http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15/03/01/392798e7039e29861fbcd0691f56a728.jpghttp://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15/03/01/52b4d2cd482e40e9161d399ba20e57dd.jpghttp://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15/03/01/cb8607bdf4ca5c5c023d98f991ee449d.jpghttp://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15/03/01/2fa3b9cfdda34e8acaadab5a64af0d44.jpg

The first picture is the factory projectors, the highbeams will have glare because they are reflectors, but I only use them when nobody's on the road

we have had really good light output with the high end lumens kit on the mrs. 3 hatch. they are crazy stupid bright at night. even the pink ones are nice. and no issues with them going on and off. where the ones I got from a affiliate here was ok, but compared they are nothing even close and the affiliate lights couldn't handle the auto feature of my GS where I think the lumens would do ok. ill be putting some in mine this year, have them in the bike already. but yes you get what you pay for. the cheaper ones may be bright enough but they may not last half as long too.

That's odd booter, when I went with lumens the first time around, the ballasts blew within 2 weeks.

Little late with reply, but if you want to hide the ballast for clean look you will need to take the bumper off. That way you can unscrew headlights to give yourself more room to work with. I've mounted my relays on battery box using stainless steel bolt and locking washer and nut (from CT). This is how it looks:

Please note that the black rubber seals that are on the wires were cutoff later on as they are not needed for our cars.

I can say that the Morimoto kit is top quality and there is no need for rubber spacer on bulbs either. I got the XB35 bulbs. Highly recommend it.
