Was almost in this yesterday, was able to brake and avoid onto the ramp. Hopefully none of the members were involved.

I must have squeaked through just before it happened!

I got to it just as it was happening. But what I don't understand is the road didn't seem bad at all. Little wet, but not frozen.

When I saw it, I was able to slam on my brakes, and dart over to the off ramp.

A+ driving. Most people probably just slammed on breaks & slid. You let go a steered away like you're supposed to lol. Insane you caught it on camera

It doesn't take much!! One person not paying attention, another makes a stupid move and bam....I think you see pile-ups like this because people like to drive in what I call 'packs'. If the front vehicles have a problem the rest of the pack has little time to respond. I've over the years of driving the 400 series highways have gotten into the habit of staying away from the packs as much as possible. I'm usually in between packs lol. If stuck in a pack I always follow the 3 second rule and keep my distance from vehicles around me and look way ahead up the road. I've had some pretty close calls, dozens actually over the years, but following some simple defensive driving techniques I think has saved my ass more then once.
