Hi,
I recently updated my Samsung S5 to Lollipop 5.0 and now when playing music the artist and song title is no longer showing. When i was using KitKat 4.4, it displayed artist and song title. Anyone else having this issue?
This is happening on my 2013 Mazda3.
CarLadyLisa have you heard any clients complain about this?

I have not. No.
What if you use a different music app on your phone? I recently downloaded a torrent app seems to work the same for me. I have a Note 3. No changes when I upgraded from note 1. I still get song title/artist info.
You seem to know your stuff so I'm guessing you went through all the settings on your phone.

I have tried Google Play Music and it also doesnt work. It plays music and the phone works, its just the song info that will not display.
When music is playing, it just says BT Audio on the MID

Have you tried removing the device from the list, and re-connect everything again?

And we've tried hitting the DISP button and re-pairing the device?

Did you instal lollipop OTA or sideload? My GF first tried the OTA on her nexus 5, it had issues. She then side loaded it and has no issues.

I've had issues with Lollipop as well. (Call dropping for no reason. 5.0.1 on Nexus 4.) I just decided to roll it back to 4.4.4 instead.

There are multiple methods listed on that forum on how to do just about everything, including rolling back to older firmware.
I had it easy. With a Nexus 4, I just used "Wugfresh Nexus Root Toolkit".

Reviving a dead thread to rant and inquire =(
Got Lollipop upgrade finally pushed to my Samsung Galaxy S5 yesterday. So here I am sitting with my new shiny firmware and no metadata for any of the music apps (Spotify, Google Music, stock music app, Pandora, Tune In Radio). It was bad enough that I can't play music over USB (cause MTP) and now I can't even get metadata for BT. -sigh-
On that note, is car firmware something that's checked routinely? I was wondering if it was worth it for me to stop by the dealership and ask them to see if my Mazda software is up to date. Will that cost $50 or $50,000?

I noticed yesterday that on Lollipop I can no longer play music through my Pioneer headunit. Going to have to investigate..... Bluetooth phone calls are fine.

I have same issue with lollipop on my M8 and my 2014 Mazda3 ... it loads the metadata but sometimes when I skip tracks, change sources, the car's audio system doesn't update the song info
will try it on my N5 which has 5.1 to see if issue is still there.

Solved my problem.
1. Get phone into developer mode (for me that meant going to Settings>About>Software Information>More and clicking on "Build number" about 5 times)
2. Settings>Developer options, uncheck "Use NuPlayer (experimental) instead of AwesomePlayer.
Now my music plays over Bluetooth as before.

My Note 3 just finished downloading the latest Lollipop update. It's asking me to install but I don't want to. How do I avoid installation?
All I got was a remind me later option.

Maybe this will be of help: https://intouchapp.wordpress.com/2015/02/04/avoiding-android-lollipop-update-notification/
I am happy with lollipop. I am devastated that I can no longer see song info because of it. It's a love-hate kind of thing.

The steps that Aitch posted? Tried them right away, even re-paired my phone just in case. However, I still don't have any song info for any of my music apps.
In my despair I even attempted this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.anticsoft.autoaudio&hl=en but it was just as fruitless.
