BANG !!! Transmission blows up !

Driving along the 401 in my 2010 Mazda 3 GX (Manual) with approx. 155,000 km .... BANG !! My transmission shreds ! Lucky for me, it was not bumper to bumper traffic and I was able to coast over to the shoulder.

Got it towed to Jimmy and have to get transmission replaced.

No idea what happened or why it broke ............

That's pretty weird your tranny would just blow like that! No previous signs, like grinding or leaks? Or maybe its your clutch.

clutch plate worn out? did u feel your car slipping before this happened?

similiar thing happened to me on my way to montreal, luckily it wasn't on the highway, i was turning onto my friends street and my right axle / ball joint just snapped off.

Yikes... did the 2nd gens receive a different 5 speed than the 1st gens? If not I'm surprised to hear that.
