Nail at the edge of tire, can I just pull it out?

Was putting on my summers a few weeks ago and noticed one has a nail through it. I never noticed as it was on the side that sits that doesn't face out of the vehicle. I may have driven all summer with it in there, who knows.

Tire is still holding pressure just fine, don't think it punctured the tire...

Could I just pull it out, and perhaps seal it with something?

Think it's toast if sidewall is damaged

New tire. Looks very old and worn as well. At minimum change in pairs.
