Hi I have a 06 3 with a 2.3l motor. I have a arm cold air intake on the car for the last year. Today has been raining a lot and the car threw a CEL. I forgot the code but it seems like water is getting threw my intake and into my engine cause it lurches sometimes. This only happens during pouring rain. I was thinking of getting a injen hydroshield to prevent the water from getting on my filter and sucked through my intake. Anyone on here run the injen or aem hydroshield? Does it work?

I've been running the MazdaSpeed intake since practically new. Apparently it's manufactured and identical to the AEM (from what I recall) and came with the splash shield. I've had absolutely no issues whatsoever, but then I'm also careful not to drive through deep puddles. ;)

You can get those sock covers on your filter to prevent water getting in.

There is no problem if it's shielded or socked, or both. Nine plus years driving with mine and through just about any condition, ...again never an issue.

Btw what's the logic behind an SRI, you like your engine breathing in hot engine compartment air? Kind of defeats the purpose don't you think? Might as well stick with the stock intake.

Okay guys my car has been running much better and the CEL went away on its own. So should I run the filter sock or make a guard like the mazdaspeed accessory intake?

Get the hydrosheild. Drive my cold air year round as well & it works great.
