New rust area

I have a 2012 GS Sky that I've been meticulous about taking care of. I noticed yesterday while claying my roof that the plastic gutter
piece was a bit loose. Upon closer inspection along the gutter I found 2 rust spots where it seems paint wasn't applied. I'm guessing
there's a metal tab in the location and the paint spray was blocked. Luckily I had a bottle of Trix (IronX) and that removed 80% of the
rust. I then gobbed on touch up paint using a fine brush. I hope that stops it. It's in identical areas on both sides right where the front
and rear doors meet. So I'm sure it's a factory defect.

Got a couple of these small spots on my Gen1 as well. Unfortunate to see it happening on a 2012 though, but I guess they've got enough years on them now to start having similar issues.

This is going to happen regardless of age as it's bare metal that's exposed. Although I'm not sure how bare since it looked white.
This isn't "random" general Mazda rust issue. Someone at the factory didn't properly "train" the paint spray robot properly.

Go straight up from where the seam is for the front and rear doors. Then look "behind" the plastic gutter piece.

i have no rust on my car. just paint chips galore lol

No rust either.... Again can't say much for the paint but love our car.. 2015 i touring sedan 28000 miles
